Hypotheically, if Ranaudo is gonna be out for an extended period of time why not give him a shot to prove he can translate his dominance from a closers role to a starters role?
And then he has a bad started and gets his confidence shook...yeah, great idea

Well what if he just blows a save and that rattles his confidence? Maybe we just shouldn't play him at all to not rattle his confidence.
I'm not saying to start him but that was the most pontless counter argument I've ever heard.

because they all know better than the coach that just won a national championship.
Yeah they once batted .300 in the Metry T-Ball league.

I wish people would shut the frick up about him being a starter. We have the best closer n the nation, why do yall want to ruin that?
The only reason to make that move would be if you absolutely needed him as a starter.
Mainieri has said that he could make that move if needed. So far, it hasn't been needed. My guess is that if Ranaudo comes back full strength, Ott is staying where he is.
If Ranaudo does not come back, and nobody steps up, then you might see Mainieri entertain the idea. But, Mainieri doesn't want to have to make that move.

This is retarded....he isn't 12... I'm sure he has bad outings before and he seems just fine now. Also, I said give him a CHANCE to see if he can be as good a starter as he is a closer

Why would you wanna mess with having a shutdown closer than can pitch 2/3 and some weekend 3/3 games. When AR comes back we'll be just fine. Ott needs to stay where he is and close the door game after game all season long.
You just described Louis Coleman before last season

Does anyone know how many consecutive save opportunites Ott has converted? The only rough outings I can remember him having have been times when he is used with a big lead, or other types of non-save opportunities.
