Yeah, jet sweep ain't my favorite play...I just don't like running parallel to the line of scrimmage for that long...but at least it's a bit of a mis-direction type play that challenges the edge...something that's been sorely lacking for a long time. So people are excited.

The threat of a legitimate jet sweep is as effective as the jet sweep itself. See Arky 2007 as an example.
Jet sweeps will have the LBs hesitating just long enough for Guice to get that extra step or power behind his pads before contact. It's gonna be fun to watch.

Actually if they are stuffing the sweep the fake sweep will probably work because you have to be moving with the sweep to stuff it.
So misdirection can work when direct doesn't.

By the way, DJ Chark is averaging 15.46 ypc at LSU with a long run of 79 yards. He has 3 TDs rushing on just 13 carries averaging 1 TD per 4.3 rushes. LSU should DJ Chark and Guice teams to death by getting them the ball any way they can.
