Actually it was the other way around, it was RR's father that didn't want them competing at the same school.....

Benton is not a real big part of what they do.

The story from dblplay, via dmitch, was that RR and DB actually had no problems playing together. Supposedly despite all the rumors, RR's dad was close to DB growing up, maybe his youth coach or something. After initially signing with LSU (twice), DB had gotten snookered by Trooper and really wanted to go to Auburn. The LSU and Bastrop coaches were still pressuring DB to stick with LSU, which RR's family thought was wrong, so they concocted a story that RR/RR's dad would not pick LSU if DB went there. DB did not have a strong support system, so RR and his family took the heat for him. Supposedly, that is the real story of how the LSU coaches "let" DB go to Auburn to get RR.

that mainboard poster is from florida. don't believe it. he claims to know plenty of people. pretty sure he also thought randle was gonna sign with bama

As somoene used to say several years ago, Benton has "hands of stone." I may still want to see him matched with Simon. Benton has greatly underachieved. I hope he doesn't miss his sessions with his tutors to practice more for LSU this week.
