I agree with him, but I wonder how many people saying the same thing are the same people that say "you can't call pass interference in that situation" (referring to an end-of-game type of thing).

And he would be absolutely right.

According to the rules, since it wasn't reviewed before the next snap was recorded, it's a touchdown.

frick Mark May. What does he want em to do? change the score? The official had already ruled it a TD before he even tossed it.

Who cares, they didn't review it and UGA didn't challenge. It was completely irrelevant the first time they showed the replay, even more so now.

He is right it shouldn't have been a TD but it wasn't called and doesn't really change the fact that LSU is a better team than UGA

It was an idiotic decision by mathieu

Oh, I know that. I just doubt that he's consistent. I'm sure there's plenty of times where he's of the "let 'em just play" mentality.

He saw the hands raised, and tossed him the ball. Hardly something you could really call idiotic

Not really. The hands were not completely raised when the ball left his hands.

Wasn't reviewed, called TD. It's a touchdown.

Thanks for the info Mark.

It's a shame that it happened tbh. LSU would have won with or without that poor call.

And if rules are rules, then it would have been called an illegal forward pass at the 1/2 yard line. I think it's a 5 yard penalty, so ball at the 5 1/2.

This whole situation is amusing. Of course if it had been called they would have been technically correct.

BUT = how can someone in good conscience be upset that it wasn't called??

There was nothing about the play that had anything to do with the effort being exerted by GA at the time. It was a fluke. It would be like complaining that a meteorite missed him by "that much" and if it had hit him, he would not have scored.

If you watch the replay Mathieu knew he threw it early. As he got into the endzone he looked back like "oh shite, I hope they don't catch that".

It went through the goalline. I believe it would have been a touchback.

Wouldn't LSU have gotten the ball on the half yard line anyway? I mean it was a lateral, right?

Perhaps all true, however I can't imagine the reaction had the uniforms been reversed. Much less had it been a close game and LSU had lost by a TD or less.

I agree, the calling of a touchdown ends the play just like the whistle. If he was not over we would have possession on the 1/2" line as teh play was dead on the signal by the ref.

It was a forward pass and thus LSU would've gotten the ball at the 5 if reviewed. What's his point?

May is trying everything to justify Bama in the game. PERIOD. Even if it means taking shots at LSU.
