Excuse my ignorance...

For you guys all things expert on the offensive side of the ball (so basically all of TigerDroppings) ...

How will these two offenses differ stylistically?... I know they both rely heavily on the "power sweep".

Is it just pre-snap motions?

Malzahn runs about 18 different Formations with around 200 plays. I do not think Canada is that diverse. Ensminger showed about 10 Formations in the Bowl Game which will more resemble what Canada will do.

Booger eating is not a statistic of Canada from what I've heard.

Simply put, Matt canada has more of a pro-style approach on offense, he just runs plays out of various formations. While malzahn runs more of a high schoolish, gimmicky and pussy arse style of offense. Give me Matt Canada all day everyday if choosing between the two. Malzahn seems like he runs the same offense every year no matter what his personnel may be. He doesn't change the offense to best suit his team like a good coach should do. Just my opinion after watching auburn under malzahn.

Malzahn has a power read type spread offense. Canada has an offense built around his quarterbacks. So if he has a dual threat type qb you will see more of a spread look. Pocket passer more of a pro style look. Both styles have a lot of shifts and motions. This causes a lot of misdirection. It's harder to defend against Canada's offense. You see a little bit of everything. The routes and stuff don't change much based on if in shotgun or under center. Both are great at what they do on offense, however, you see more teams run stuff like malzahn and not a lot of teams run the Canada type offense. But more will follow now since he is becoming very very successful.

Sound very unbiased.

He got to the championship game with a back up cb playing qb. Seems like he made something work right.

Malzahn's offense is built around the quarterback mainly a running style QB. When he doesn't have one they really struggle. Canada is more flexible and can mold his offense to fit his talent. He's more wide open and spread than what we are used to seeing but Canada can have a dangerous passing or rushing attack depending on what he has to work with. They're very different actually.

Auburn's offense is based around a pre and post snap read of a defensive player. Canada's offense is based on confusing the defense and getting talent the ball in space.

Both are very effective with the right guys.

He played qb before. Got demolished by LSU, and squeezed out two miracles to get there. I know LSU lost to Clemson, but they would have given FSU a good game also.

We'll be focusing on looking for creative ways to disguise the toss-dive and short-side option!

HERE WE GO....

Malzahn's style is uptempo, no huddle, with a primary focus on a mobile QB. His offense is based on a scheme, and when he has the right pieces the offense is exceptional. They run a lot of read option plays where the QB can run, pitch, or pass.

Canada runs a multiple offense with a lot of motion and misdirection. His offense is predicated around players skill and does not particularly run a scheme. He has limited plays but from a lot of formations. His offensive goal is to confuse the defense or put them in a mismatch or get them out of position.

Malzahn May be a good coach if he could keep his finger out of his nose!

That is most of it, Canada throws more Gus runs more.

After doing some initial review of Canada led offenses, I came to the conclusion that he was the pro-style skew of what Malzahn does out of the spread.

It can also be distinguished by % of time the QB is under center, as well as how traditional the formations are. I think it's a perfect medium from what we were used to under Miles without completely losing our soul and going full on spread.
