To be able to learn from one of the greatest pure shooting guards ever would be an honor for most players. Ben Simmons needs to heed his advice and learn, but I’m not sure he will listen.

The problem with Ben is Ben. Ben will remain the world’s biggest underachiever until he wants to get better.

I don't think the Sixers have anyone as accomplished; and it sounds like Mahmoud is following up on Shaq's critique.

Don't do it CJ. He is not worth your time and effort.

It’s good of him to want to help him. That’s the sign of a generous man. Because right now everyone is piling on Ben Simmons.

Simmons can be fixed. He has to not only work on the shot, but also on his hustle level, which is much harder to do, because that’s a reflection of what’s already inside you.

Simmons looks like a spectator in his own games half the time. He assumes other people are going to rebound, that a shot will go in, that someone else will make a shot off of his passing, etc. He seems to be around the action but not driving action. He also gets pushed around like a rag doll.

All of this can be fixed. But the motivation has to come from within.

Mahmoud crafted his shot by working his arse off practicing his shot when he was young. Reports are that Benny Boy thus far has been unwilling to put in the work during the offseason.

The NBA and MLB are both headed in the wrong direction from a fundamentals perspective IMO. The number of Ks in MLB is straight up a joke. It isn’t the pitching. It is the inability to to use the entire field. Pure hitters are few and far between. Brantley is one of the few left.

Been told his entire life that he's God's gift to grits. He can't change. He can't shoot. Everyone in BR has known that for a long time.

When Rudy Macklin was with the Atlanta Hawks, he was primarily a rebounder and garbage bucket in the paint guy. However, in the offseason and off-days, he would shoot a thousand jump shots a day to improve his game. He never became a great shooter, but he became a better shooter. He was more confident about his 15-footer due to all the practice he put in.

Even great shooters put in that kind of work.

Hmmmm...I didn't hear CHRIS JACKSON say he would do it for free. All he said was to have "your people" give "my people" a call. That almost sounds like CHRIS JACKSON is looking to make a monetary deal.

Having said that, CHRIS JACKSON is one of the Top 5 pure shooters I've ever seen in person. I've watched a couple of those 3-on-3 games when he was playing and he's STILL one of the best shooters around.

Of course they do.

I don't understand your question as a response to my comment. It's very non sequitur-ish.

Good example

The people I think of are Jordan and Olajuwon. As they got older, they actually got better. They developed their games to be more complete players bc they knew at some point they couldn’t just get by on athleticism.

They put in the work and it showed.

If these guys would realize they should work on the weak areas of their games, it’d be a much better product to watch. Instead, the game as become what it is.

Exactly. When Jordan entered the league his outside shot was not very good. But because Jordan is extremely competitive and a very hard worker he improved his outside shot through his entire career.

Why do you keep saying CHRIS JACKSON like that?

Without getting traded to the Pelicans where he could work with Fred Vinson, Abdul-Rauf may be his best option. I think Simmons issue is 90% mental, though.

The answer to your question is obvious: ignorance.

this isn't rocket science. Get a shooting coach and shoot 1000 per day in the off-season.

Ben should've already been doing that, even back in his high school and college days, because he's known forever that his shot is a big weakness.

But the fact that things are getting worse tells you all you need to know about his work ethic.
