He said Conference Championship games don't matter and stop talking about them. Said it didn't matter last year and didn't this year.

Is there a reason they don't?

I mean, how else do we judge teams?

Auburn helped Bama by just giving them a week off. Bama has been better off twice now by not winning the west.

They haven’t mattered since ESPN invented the eye test.

But it doesnt make sense that they dont matter. They pick the two teams who won their division and play them against each other on a field to determine who is the better team. Why are we using eyeball test over results on the field?

Conference championship games were beneficial in BCS DAYS. teams need to boycott or blow it up now even though they are money makers they aren’t worth it ANYNORE in this shite system.

I bet Auburn would disagree.

There should be no conference championship game if it's not weighed in heavily. Hell if we're on the bubble, I don't want us to play in it if we get there. Why should we. Bama has made it twice in recent years while LSU, UGA, and Auburn put it all on the line in an extra now meaningless game.

Conference championships DO matter, just not more than the other three criteria the constantly talk about. I’m not sure why this is so hard to understand?

My thoughts exactly. The selection board is a popularity contest for the elite. Penn State got fricked last year for OSU, and this year and for the second time in a decade Bama did not win the SEC , had a bye week, and got in over a conference champion. The system is wrong.

Conference Championship games matter mightily in a good conference. The Big 10 game I believe hurt OSU by exposing their weak team on a national level in prime time. That was bad football.

But but the human element is so important!! They watch the games they know who is the best right lol. No way they could get blinded by the big name teams

Bama’s 2011 championship was illegitimate and this one will be as well should they win.

Because it is not about picking the best team.

And I totally agree with Mac.

I love the Conference championships, don't get me wrong. And I think they should matter when it comes to the remaining bowl selection process AFTER the playoff selection has taken place, if necessary.
