Not a wise move. He really needs at least one more year.

I am hoping the new recruits at this position will be ready to help soon.

Good. He will show everyone what a great free agent body he will be in NFL pre season camp. I don’t think he makes it.

He's going to regret this decision. Whomever is advising him needs their head checked. He's simply not ready for the NFL.

SMH! Like the portal, who's advising these guys to declare!?! The portal is like musical chairs, expect that MANY are left without a seat in the end. They all think they'll move on to something better, but there just aren't that many spots. Same with the draft. There are just so many picks (<300) yet these guys ALL think they're a top 3 rounds pick! Nope. And if not, it's tough to make it. But hey! Good luck.

Having a Dline coach in place would help with attrition, but no loss with Smith. I lost count how many times he would bull rush in the opposite direction of where the ball was

He's barely ready for the SEC.

No. It’s being realistic. He will be a 4th round at best.

The defense may actually be just as bad next season; got back Ryan who got put in a blender by Big10 receivers, Burns well his name has been fitting for a secondary player, lost your starting DT's & rotational guys but replaced them with nobody, the spring portal will be for the 3-4 deep guys & they can't be from a sec school.

Not smart on his part but good luck to him

Why? He wasn't living up to his potential. Maybe he can get the coaching he needs somewhere else.

IMO, it's a gain because he was never an impact player and never lived up to his billing. Give me somebody that may not have the the perfect size, but has the heart of a Jacob Hester and our defense will dominate.
