Outside of two jetsweeps.

People believing our OL played well on Saturday really did not watch the same game. Our RBs averaged 2.9 ypc on their own.

46 carries for 156 yards and 2 jetsweep runs by WRs for 60 yards. 28% of LSU’s rushing yardage came on 4% if they rushing plays.

Reality is that he OL play was mediocre to bad against a depleted UF defense dealing with a lot of the same issues LSU is but in some cases worse. The OL played admirably, but people are way overweighting how wel they performed.

No group played worse than the QB. That is what people are comparing. I haven't seen anyone say that the o-line played great.

They are young. Growing pains and with Grimes coaching them it is only going to be tougher for them.

Taking those running plays out is pretty ridiculous. Some plays set up other plays.

Do you take out the few deep passes by QBs to prove they aren’t throwing the ball for a lot of yards?

Our OL is not good, but Saturday was their toughest test yet and they looked better than they have all year. Etling had happy feet and squandered a decent pocket quite a few times by not stepping up, taking off running too quickly, or not making his reads. They also had some collapses, but it wasn’t as bad as the QB play would lead you to believe.

I think they did well considering 3 freshmen got the bulk of the snaps. I see improvement but they have a long ways to go.

There were also a few lineman that had to step up and play that likely weren't expecting playing time. They will get more reps in practice this week and likely improve. Also, if Etling had hit some of those easy passes then that also would have opened up the running game more.

And why are you calling Florida's D-line depleted? They have a ton of talent, depth, and experience. It is one of the toughest fronts that LSU faced, and will face, this season.

You don't get to take away the big plays just to try to make a point. They either happened or they didn't.

Did not leave out something that wasn’t part of point. The youth is understandable, but again, LSUs OL struggles mightily in that game. I just think the people acting like they proved themselves in this game don’t understand the reality of that performance.

Also, LSU will not get away with that many jetsweeps against a team worth a damn.

I said as much yesterday.

The OL coaching and scheme is just pathetic. It would be one thing if our guys were just getting beat in one on one matchups, and that happens sometimes, but most of it is something else.

We run to the weakside of the formation all the time, and we often put ourselves in running plays that put more defenders than we can block in a given area. When your OL is mediocre from a skill standpoint, you'd think we try to make it easier on them and just block a man straight up rather than all the shifting and whatnot.

It may spring a jet sweep here or there, but it makes it very difficult to sustain drives with any kind of success.

It's like you don't even take into consideration the fact florida knew we couldn't pass for shite so they knew they just had to stop the run.

Agreed.

That being said, 29 attempts from the RBs netted 85 rushing yards, and that makes sustaining drives a difficult task.

Lol. Talking out two plays that reduce the importance of OL in run blocking and further both occurred in the first half is reasonable. Consistency is the key with an offensive line. Those plays were clearly outliers.

It’s not like I am taking out 20% of good plays. I took out two misdirection plays, one of which happened when UF has a backup in at safety.

That said, Canada caked a good game, but this OL is weak and poorly coached on top of being young.

Have people actually said they played great? All I've seen people say is that they didn't suck. There is a difference.

We'll see this Saturday. AU is a real test and will be a serious challenge to move the rush against.

Agree. What we did was smoke and mirrors. And, it's why the coaching staff (namely Canada) deserve a lot of credit for that game.

Now you are being unfair. We had our backup RG playing LT. He had a guy who had very, very few snaps playing RT. Surviving was a hell of a job. I don't think it predicts success moving forward, but give credit to guys who stepped up.
