Where would you rank our receivers in LSU history and where would you rank them for this season in college football compared to other teams?

For me it’s probably the best in LSU history I would say. Definitely top 3 in college football too

Think as an overall core it’s the best we’ve probably ever had with Jefferson, Chase, and Marshall. As far as currently in college football probably 1B with Alabama. Bama has the speed, LSU has the bigger stronger possession guys, not to takeaway from their abilities after the catch as well

As a unit, they are certainly a rare combination.

Bowe, Davis, and Doucet were also a special trio.

Those two units would certainly be in contention for the best WR unit LSU has ever had.

What makes them especially dangerous is that there is no single "go-to" receiver for defenses to key on in crucial situations. They are all equally a threat.

That's why I thought Josh Reed was so impressive. The defense would know he was getting the ball, but he'd still get wide-arse open.

That's a tough one. As a whole squad maybe top 2 or 3 when you think of Clayton/Bowe, Beckham/Landry ... I wanted to include Eric Martin, but he and Fontenot had to deal with the fact that LSU had Dalton Hilliard and a Les Miles/Woody Hayes style of offense back then.

ETA: Even then Martin had 1000 yards receiving, which is phenomenal.

I think we are definitely top 3 with Bama and Clemson. Tough to say who is number 1

Our guys get open, break tackles, have speed and, most importantly, don’t drop the ball.

They are #1 and it’s not close.

WTF are you talking about? Devonta Smith would be the 4th best receiver on this LSU team.

We have had 2 total drops through 6 games. Pretty amazing when we are throwing the ball as much as we are

DeVonta Smith is really good. Hard to say he would be 4th. He is uber talented and saw a mock the other day having him go first round. He can run the whole route tree and is similar to AJ green just shorter. Silky smooth

Best in history is a strong stance. Beckham and Landry did there thing in a running offense and are now two of the best in the league.

You also had stints with Reed, Bowe, Lafell, Henderson and Clayton.

All of these guys were terrific in a much less passer friendly style of offense.
