Are the facilities at Florida Gulf Coast, Denver, Miami of Ohio and Nevada really that much better than LSU?

I see you know your stuff BigJR. To answer your question:

No, no, no, and no. And yes, all of these schools beat us at NCAA's. Lack of facilities does not seem to be a problem for recruiting at these schools. In fact, Florida Gulf Coast University who beat us pretty good does not even have a Natatorium. They have an outdoor pool and an indoor "lap pool". No Natatoruim.

Rantards bitch about having the worst facility in the SEC (stuckinthe90s) as the excuse for LSU Swimming's inability to recruit, yet schools like FGCU, can recruit twice the team we have and they swim in a lap pool or better yet, swim outside. It ain't the facilities mullet.

Excuses are bridges to nowhere.

I know nothing about the swim team situation other than I work for a company who staffed workers for a lot of the renovations to the Natatorium last year. I know it wasn't anything to spruce up the outside of the facility but from my follow ups with clients on the inside,it looked like a major upgrade to the actual pool itself along with a nice sized score board with what looked like a video replay screen.

Without spending a ton of time analyzing the upgrades, I would consider that to be a decent enough facility and not exactly sure what a prospective student athlete would expect or why they should really care about the cosmetics of the facility if the actual pool itself was first class. Hadn't seen anybody mention the upgrades so far in this thread but I feel like this has to show on some level that the administration must care enough to invest resources into the pool portion of the facility.

Can't anchor it now. The NCAA Men's Championship start tomorrow. Tiger Fans who care about this shite need to know where our Tiger Men are. Here is where LSU Swimming is "projected" to finish.

Tigerdude12, it's just a projection, but as we saw with the women, these guys at Swim Swam are generally right on the mark with their "projected scoring". If I am reading it right we will finish tied for last place in the Nation. If you believe it is because we have the worst facility in the Nation I have some swamp land to sell you.

Never said it was just the facilities. In fact , I noted that lsu completely re-tiled the entire facility, including refurbishing the entire diving area.. What I did say is that the locker rooms were terrible. Does that affect recruiting? I don't know but I do know the lsu builds palaces for thei football team , practically bragging about the locker rooms (as does every other sec football team does). . I think recruiting swimming at lsu is difficult. Fact of the matter is that Louisiana does not have a lot of home grown division 1 talent. With the scholarship limitations, especially on the men's side , you need home grown swimmers who can swim on partial or no scholarships. Take Georgia 's men's team this year. They got the 3 litherland brothers and the bentz kid, , practically a whole recruiting class .. All top national swimmers and all native Georgians..

I hear you loud and clear.

Take Auburn for example (Alabama). They are right in the mix with Georgia. They are consistent National contenders. They have one in state swimmer on the Men's Team. Let me repeat that.....One.

Lack of knowledge of the sport keeps the administration in the dark.

Charisma, experience, and likability. That is what brings in recruits. Everything else is a bunch of BS excuses. Smoke and mirrors.

Lots of great swimmers in the area. LSU should solely recruit form South FL.

recruiting in swimming is a lot like recruiting in tennis. the top flight US talent is taken up by a handful of schools.

thus, the talent must come from abroad. which means it is very expensive. when i swam at LSU and team was made up of maybe 50/50 US to foreign men.

Australians like to drink.............good times.

The guys at Swim Swam were once again, right on the mark with their predictions. LSU Men's Swimming finished last in the Nation at NCAA's. They did however finish second to last at SEC's.

Where are the page long explanations from the swim staff and their muses? Nothing silences the Rant like the truth. I can hear the speech at the sports banquet this year, it will go something like this: "I am not one for words, I'll let the numbers speak for themselves", and this will be followed by all the school and pool records the men broke this year and the coach will be acknowledged for what a great job he is doing with the Program.

As to how did the men fare BigJR? The numbers speak for themselves.

That said, there will always be those rantards who will talk about peoples wives, interject complete BS, call people names, kill the messenger, or stick their head in the sand and shout Geaux Tigers. One thing is sure, when Mr Alleva gets back from his basketball game it will be time to make assessments and take the actions that move LSU Athletics forward. That is what we are paying him to do, right?
