One of the greatest LSU basketball games ever. Georgetown is ranked like #2 and they have Alonzo Mourning.

LSU has Ricky Blanton, Chris Jackson, Lyle Mouton, Vernel Singleton, and Dennis Tracy.

The game went down to the wire in the Superdome in front of 60,000 people.

LSU wins on a last second put back by Ricky Blanton, one of the greatest Tigers ever.

If you are under 30, you might not remember this game too well. I just found this on Youtube and thought I'd share. Maybe its been posted here before, but who cares? It's late and I'm in a sharing mood.

I like the 1:32 mark. White boy tries to slow him down or draw a foul and ended up getting ran over.

Look at that crowd!

interesting how many of our fans in past games-like many SEC teams use today-used shakers during the game. I like it

Chris Jackson was my favorite LSU basketball player ever. I doubt that will ever change. I remember when I was a kid I'd go out in the driveway and do my lips like he did when I shot. He was to me what Michael Jordan was to a ton of kids.

Great game. VernonP and myself were there.

The house was a rockin!

Thanks for the link.

Just to add, Illinois was ranked #1 but had lost that week. Georgetown was playing to move to #1.

I'm 28, and I remember nearly every play in that game. I went to Brown's basketball camp every year, and when Blanton came back as a coach in 1996, the first thing I asked him was "Was Russell Grant's shot against Georgetown tipped?" Blanton claims that it was; I'd thought that Grant just air-balled it at the end.

Yes he did, and to everyone who loves this country. I wish I knew where the link was to the article where he was interviewed. he basically said that the United States was the blame for all the worlds problems. That the 9/11 attacks were done by the United States and their was no way muslims were involved. I won't tell you what I really think about him because last time I did I got banned.

Saying that your country sucks isn't an offense to you. You're an idiot, and you should be banned. If Mahmoud did something to you, call the cops or hire a lawyer. If you don't get anywhere with them, then Mahmoud didn't do shite to you, so let it go, unless you're determined to be a woman about it and create drama for yourself. Buy some tampons and stfu.

And for hijacking a kick-arse thread with your "They Took Our Jobs!" bullshite.

I don't condone it, nor would I have done it. But if you go around saying the things that he has said about this country and still expect to live here you are pretty much asking for it. I find it ironic how he hates this place so much, basically thinks all patriotic americans are the devil. Yet he lives here, makes a living here and raises his kids here. Why don't he just leave and go live in bagdad or terhan.

I would rather ignore an idiot like Jackson than burn his house down. Who can take a guy seriously that came from nothing and is now a millionare by putting a ball through a hoop that puts down his country. Only in America can someone that stupid become so wealthy.

Jane Fonda on the other hand...

dude I didn't say one word about you now did I? I expressed my opinion about him, not you so shut the frick up. Unless you are him, in which case I have already said what I want so there it is. As far as it being a offense to me. You damn straight is, as a patriotic United States citizen and U.S Army Veteran I have every right to be offended by this scum. Once again I want to know why this guy who hates this place so much continues to live here? He has the means the live anywhere he wants.

Seems hypocritical, since you willingly fought for his right to do and say everything he has done or said. Why would you fight for his right to live freely and then come home to celebrate his house being burned down? Seems like Veterans should be better than that.

None of your business.

You are a good man for having served us, but your anger and vitriol do you no good, and you are misguided if you think that Mahmoud has done any harm to you or the country.

You busted your arse, and we've paid you for it. Your service to our country does not give you the right to have anyone else's opinion of this country please you.

It was a great game, I remember at the time I worked at Shoe Town in Denham and they were one of the sponsors I think because they were giving away tickets. I had a few but they were up top, still a great game.

It's sad though that some idiot turned this post into something more then what it should have been. For douchebags like him(Ponchy) makes talking sports on here a joke. Get a life you fricking idiot and stfu about things from the past because you have an agenda. Im sure you were an Army vet, you probably never served anywhere judging by your 133,000 posts.

I lived in Shreveport at the time and had baseball practice that day or something, so I couldn't go to the game , but I watched on tv, and this was the day I became a huge fan of Dale Brown.

During the last time-out, they put cameras in both huddles so we could get a peek of the coaching techniques. The first camera was on John Thompson, who was saying something to the effect of "Help side defense is huge here because we're double-teaming 35. Don't leave your man close to the basket! You hear me, Alonzo! Give him the outside shot; don't leave your man down low!"

Then it switched to Dale's camera...

Dale: (to Jackson) Are we gonna win? (Jackson nods.) (to Blanton) Are we gonna win? (Blanton nods) (to Sims) Are we gonna win? (Sims nods) (to Singleton) Are we gonna win? (Singleton nods)....

Dale Brown, ladies and gentlemen !
