I'm sure it's been discussed, but how freakin awesome would the 2011 season be if this happened.

I honestly think that if it did, the other conferences would commit mass suicide, and the end of the BCS would be at hand.

While I can envision a scenario whereby a really good LSU team loses 3 games this year, I could also envision them going undefeated, or losing a close one to Bama.

At some point in the miserable life that is the BCS, the two best teams in the country are going to be in the same conference. I'm not sure that wasn't the case last year (imagine the outcry from us had we beat Ark - an LSU team with a one touchdown loss to an undefeated Auburn team -)....So, we were probably close to the situation of which I'm speaking last year.

Anybody think it'll ever happen? Is this the year inho?

I can understand your WILL not, but the "cannot". I'm not a LSUMatt or whatever that guy's name is computer guru, so I'm asking this in all seriousness...

Can it not (computer wise)?

why not? only because the college football paradigm says it cannot happen. if the 2 best teams in the nation are in the same conference, who gives a frick. let them play for all the marbles. you people need to think outside the box

Seriously, is there a rule that says it can't happen?

I'll stake my reputation on this site that this scenario won't happen...

Of course that's like a prostitute wagering their virginity

But still...

Very unlikely, on so many levels.

Matt probably ran the calculation last year before the Arkansas game.

Does anyone know if he did/remember any thread/talk about it?

It can happen........

LSU wins every game except Bama.

Bama wins every game.

LSU sits at 11-1 with a victory over Pac 10 champ Oregon & Big East Champ WV.

Oklahoma has lost twice to A&M and OSU.

OSU has lost twice to A&M and Texas.

Texas has lost to OU and Missiouri, etc.

FSU has 2-3 losses.

It would take a bunch of shite to happen but it could happen and would only happen with a scenerio in which every other team in the NCAA has 2 losses and LSU has 1.

Leaving the voter's no choice but rank us 1-2.

Our SOS would rank us in the top in many computers outside of Bama's victory over us.

Pretty sure that's impossible.
We actually might see a #1 vs. #2 matchup in the regular season anyway.

The only situations in which this could realistically (anything is possible if every other conference champ has 2 losses and no non-BCS are undefeated) happen were in the old Big X, when there were certain teams you didn't play AND there was no conference title game.

For example, both Michigan State and Ohio State last year could have gone undefeated since they didn't play each other.

Possible, but so unlikely

You've got to admit, that'd be a SWEET SWEET scenario.

The only thing better than beating Alabama would be beating Alabama in the MNC game after losing to them in a close one during the regular season.

I hear ya but hypothetically, LSU would have the better shot at 2 in the BCS with a loss because of the OOC with WV and Oregon. Only reason I played it that way Zealot.

If LSU and Bama have one or fewer losses than everyone else, then LSU plays Bama.

For example, in 2007, everyone had two or more losses. If that kind of thing happens again, except LSU and Bama have one or fewer losses, then LSU and Bama play in the BCSCG.

Exactly what I'm trying to say.........Hell even WV or Oregon could have 1 loss each to us and we'd likely be strong enough to get bumped depending on the outcomes in those games.

I'd take that just as well (us being the undefeated team).

My feelings about this season are about like a 50 year old woman's hormones. One day I think we're going to the dang Liberty Bowl, the next, I got us putting a beat down on the world.

This team SHOULD be incredible. O line SHOULD be dominant, Jefferson SHOULD play better, defense SHOULD be just as good....

Man, if this team performs to potential......

I dunno about this, the loss to Bama would be later in the year and the voters wouldn't want to leave Oregon out if they were the only other conference champ with 1 loss
