Friday 7pm: Brian Shaffer, JR, 0-0 1.80 6K v Alex Lange
Saturday 2pm: Taylor Bloom, JR, 0-1 9.00 3K v Jared Poche
Sunday 11am: Tyler Blohm, FR, 1-0 3.60 5K v Eric Walker

I'm calling this crowd sourced because I have no intention of doing all the work in this thread to inform folks on LSU's opponent this weekend, but I will post information as I find it.

Maryland is coached by John Szefc, a former ULL assistant under Tony Robichaux. They feature two part time starters from Louisiana in Will Watson (Neville) and Madison Nickens (Dutchtown), both transfers from LSUE.

Perfect Game spotlighted Maryland second baseman Nick Dunn this past week and gave a pretty detailed scouting report on him. You can read that here for free: LINK

Last weekend they started pitchers named Tyler Blohm and Taylor Bloom, so there's that.

I had no idea that Maryland was ranked #25 until this morning. There's my contribution.

I just know I'll mix these two up at some point... at least Bloom is a righty and Blohm is a lefty, so that helps some.

Alumni connection:

In Mason Katz' first ever start at Catcher in the minors, he was behind the plate for Maryland alum Jimmy Reed's first and only career professional shut out. Feature Story Box Score

The two had previously been opponents the last time Maryland made a trip to the Box. Reed got the loss in the Friday night game after giving up 1 run in 5 IP. It was the only run scored in the game. Mason Katz was 0-4 with 3 Ks in that game. Two of those Ks were against Reed. Box Score

The run that Reed surrendered was on the first ever hit for Alex Bregman at LSU and was Bregman's first RBI. Aaron Nola got the win that day with Chris Cotton getting the save.

Looks like most of their players went to Catholic high schools, so there's that.

Lyn will ask Ben if he's ever eaten a terrapin.

Ben will say "No, but I have eaten chinquapin."

Crazy food and outdoor stories will follow.

LSU leads the series vs Maryland 3-0.

Lyn will mention these famous Maryland alums:

Jim Henson - Muppets
Judith Resnick - Challenger astronaut
Connie Chung - TV journalist
Carl Bernstein - Watergate journalist
Scott Van Pelt - ESPN & LSU Tiger Fan
Tim Kurkjian - ESPN baseball
Sergey Brin - Google founder
Len Bias - 2nd overall pick in NBA draft who overdosed on cocaine 2 days after being picked by Celtics
Boomer Esiason - NFL Super Bowl QB
Larry David - Seinfeld creator
Carly Fiorina - Ran for U.S. president 2016

Their uniforms are ugly.
