The facility was supposed to break ground last summer and be ready for fall 2014. I was recently told that the project was delayed. Does anyone know if ground has been broken? And are they still doing the scaled down version? Will they have indoor courts?

I don't have a lot of the details, but they haven't started yet. It is going to be across the street from Alex Box Stadium, and the LSU Dairy has already given up the land. Not sure when we'll see dirt being moved, but I would assume pretty soon. It will have indoor courts.

What happened to the tennis Courts across the street from the late Graham dorm?

Across Nicholson? That's going to look really fricking stupid if they put it there. Also going to take away a lot of tailgating spots

How about "it's going to add tailgating spots"?

Assuming it includes a large parking lot that will be shared with LSU baseball.

People already tailgate there doing football games. Packing a big stadium right there will definitely take away spots.

Maybe I'm confused on the spot. Are yall saying it will be in the field across nicholson from alex box or next to the golf course across gourrier from alex box?

It's across Gourrier from Alex Box. As you head from Nicholson to the levee, Alex Box is on the right, and on the left you have the golf course, then the Louisiana House(home and landscape resource center), then a field where the tennis center will go, then the LSU Dairy. The spot where it is being built has been used by dairy cows, not tailgaters. The cows are the only ones being screwed here.

Haha ok good. That's definitely a good spot then

Definitely seems random to have the Tennis courts way out there though.

What are they planning on doing with the old tennis courts? They have recently torn down all the hold shitty houses\apartments by the old softball field and they tore down the old softball field and eventually will tear down the old tennis facility leaving a shite ton of room over there for a big building (new indoor track??)

They are going to build a new gymnastics facility on the north side of the PMAC. It sounds like it will be where current parking is, so hopefully the old tennis courts become a parking lot.

The old tennis stadium will be a Gymnastics facility. They old softball field area will be a parking garage.

Not saying that you are wrong, but I found this article in The Advocate from last May:

Work will begin on the gymnastics facility sometime after groundbreaking on the tennis facility, Breaux said.

Alleva said it will be built on one of two parking lots between the north side of the PMAC and Robinson Tennis Stadium.

This is correct. In the renderings/designs below you can see Maddox behind and the basketball practice facilities beside the gymnastics facility.

That's a good looking building.

Alleva gets a lot of hate on here but I think he's done a great job on updating all of our athletc facilities

Also does anyone know if these plans for the tennis facility are the most recent?

I've seen a few released that all are slightly different. If you go to the LSU TAF Facebook page, they've posted a rendering a fee weeks ago that is the most up to date I believe.

The video says it was uploaded in 2011. That's when the facility was originally going to be at the south campus way down Nicholson. The video itself also mentions south campus which isn't the location anymore.

ETA: So I don't think the TAF images or the images in that video are the most recent.
