Hitting Stats

Crews 7/17 .411 + 3 BB, 2 HBP, 4 K, .545 OBP
Berry 5/19 .263 + 3 BB, 3 K, .363 OBP
Pearson 6/18 .333 + 2 BB, 2 HBP, 5 K, .454 OBP
Doughty 8/18 .444 + 1 BB, 1 HBP, 2 K, .500 OBP
Morgan 7/18 .388 + 1 BB, 1 HBP, 2 K, .450 OBP
Thompson 5/17 .294 + 3 BB, 5 K, .400 OBP
McManus 3/16 .187 + 2 BB, 7 K, .277 OBP
Jobert 1/12 .083, 5K, .083 OBP
Stevenson 0/6 .000 + 3 BB, 1 HBP, 3 K, .400 OBP
Dugas 1/4 .250 + 1 BB, 1 HBP, 2 K, .500 OBP
Cranford 0/1 .000 + 1 BB, .500 OBP
Merrifield 0/1 .000, 1 K, .000 OBP
Bianco 0/3 .000, + 1 BB, 1 HBP, 3 K, .400 OBP

Team: 43/149 .288 + 21 BB, 9 HBP, 44 K, .407 OBP, 32 Runs Scored

Very poor batting average, but managed to score 32 runs in 4 games due to playing against average teams who are midweek game caliber for an SEC team. Hard to have 5 starts batting under .300 for the series, especially when one is supposed to be your 2nd best overall player and a top 10 draft pick.

The total team numbers almost perfectly mimic our full season averages of .289 AVG and .404 OBP.

Pitching Stats (whole staff combined)

36 innings - 164 batters faced - 43 hits allowed - 33 runs allowed (30 earned) - 17 BB - 3 HBP - 39 K - .298 avg allowed - .384 OBP allowed - 7.50 ERA

For a SEC staff to allow those kind of numbers to an ASUN team and a CUSA team (x3) team over the course of 4 games is embarrassing. No reason to average 8 runs per game against those teams and go 2-2 and require late game miracles to do so. Trailed in the 8th inning of all 4 games.

We can be mad at the offense all we want for not coming through last night or today when there were opportunities, having stretches of completely awful at bats, or whatever...but long story short, Scoring 8 runs per game should not lose you any games against that competition...much less lose you two games. the 8-4 loss last night? Okay maybe they could've helped out a bit more...but there's no reason for games to even be close when we score 14, 7, and 7 in the other 3.

Poor pitching and getting absolutely nothing out of the bottom of the lineup did us in.

In other words, if the top 6 guys in the lineup couldn’t produce runs, we weren’t scoring.

And those 6 guys had a lot of pressure to answer what seemed like continuous momentum by usm thanks to our deficient pitching and pitch calling.

.288 is by no means a “very poor” batting average. I’m pretty sure we were around that all season

The scouts must see something we don’t. Berry has been a good player, but not top 10 good.

Did you not start watching him play until after he broke his finger?

Dude batted .370 this year and was over or very close to .400 in sec play. That’s insane

I’m not saying he can’t hit, but he doesn’t look like a top 10 pick to me. Maybe that has a lot to do with his injury. He was also a liability in the field for a big chunk of the season.

The main reason he wasn’t SEC player of the year is because Dylan Crews plays in the SEC.

The DH is universal in the MLB now. Fielding is zero concern to MLB scouts. Just hit for power which he has a ton of and they’ll find a spot.

His average was .400 against SEC only pitching. Sounds pretty good to me
