The ticket price increase would generate about a quarter-million dollars for the athletic department. (A season ticket price increase baseball is on Friday's agenda, too. It would raise grandstand ticket prices 9 percent to 39 percent and generate nearly $1 million in added funds. LSU won the NCAA title last year.)

For gymnastics at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, lower-level seating ticket prices would jump 25 percent, prime mid-level seating would jump 23 percent and upper-level seating is jumping 39 percent. The mandatory foundation fees will make more ticket prices higher.

Percentages are stupid when you are talking increases. They are reporting percentages so that it’s a headline grabber.

Gym seats are going from $65 for season tickets to $100. That’s not some crazy high number. Last year there were 6 home events. That means tickets are now ~$17 each when they were -$11 each last year.

Yeah, but that's an extremely effective strategy if you want to grab the attention of this fan base. They know their audience, and play to it well.

They would be stupid not to raise gymnastics ticket prices.

My WBB season tickets went from $200 a seat to $250.00 a seat contribution included. Very reasonable, IMO.

Bet if they fixed concessions for both football and baseball alone they would generate so much more than that (off of what they normally make)

I flipflopped on this, but yeah you're right...

my initial hesitance was "why raise the price, when most people weren't going before, and just now are mildly interested in it?"

The diehards will still go, you aren't pricing them out yet. And the casuals who might now go won't know it was cheaper last year, because they never looked into it.

Now, baseball, they might want to ease off on the price jump. That market is already established, people know the prices and such. But again, you could always sell "and we will certainly be better than this year", because that's practically a given. If the team flops twice in a row, you're worried about more than ticket prices

You know gymnastics sells out the PMAC like every meet right?

Baseball has basically a 98-99% season ticket renewal rate every year. They know people will continue to get them and if they don't someone is on the waiting list ready to get some.

There it is. The concessions stand crowd always shows up to these threads.

Yes, actually I do know that. I knew people involved in gymnastics going back to the 80's. I did some men's stuff in middle and highschool, which was fantastic for core strength, and I knew a couple of the girls who were on the team when I went to college. I remember when Nina got a job at WBRZ afterwards.

Selling out the PMAC is great, but that only means the diehard group will go every time. I'd say men's basketball has a far larger audience casually watching it, that might go, and they didn't sell out the PMAC.

Winning the national title has expanded gymnastics to a larger segment of the LSU fandom, and they may now decide they want to see a meet or 2. That's the group I'm referring to; the price won't seem exorbitant, and they won't know it was cheaper last year because they didn't even think about it.

I am not one of the "concession fan crowd" as the product, other than water/coke, is so God awful I don't consider it. I am however one of the "revenue fan crowd" and they are leaving money on the table by not offering an even slightly better product at baseball/basketball games.

Tiger Stadium is limited in size of crowd vs kitchen/concession facilities so I get the issue there but other sports have no argument. Now consider that baseball is a slower sport with less action and more opportunities fans for to hit concessions. Not having numerous profitable food options for that captive audience is asinine.

LOL no they aren't.

Maybe for LSU gymnastics season tickets. But not for 99% of inflation.

Percentages are stupid….

Wbb went from 275 a pair to over 500 a pair
Men’s football end zone 580 to 850 for my end zone… (48 percent increase)…I have three for guests… prices went from 1525 to 1600 a seat for my seats by the students on sideline … not much increase but already priced high..

It adds up… my gym went up and sure mbb will also..

Fwiw the football game experience has been in significant decline.. morning games.. heat stroke afternoon games.. questionable playing.. nil=mercenary team players..

LSU will publish increase to taf which were not high but what they are not saying is they are upping cost of seats.. .. then the taf fee

They are going after any place they can get another nickel out without pricing you out totally.
