Looking historically at LSU in the SEC from the 1930's on, we see the following cumulative records for SEC play (excluding SEC title games):

30s: 33-17-2 or 66%
40s: 29-25-4 or 54%
50s: 30-31-7 or 49%
60s: 38-19-3 or 67%
70s: 35-22-1 or 61%
80s: 35-23-4 or 60%
90s: 31-46-1 or 40%
00s: 55-25-0 or 69%
10s: 33-14-0 or 70%

Saban SEC record: 28-12 (70%) and 30-12 (71%) if you count SECCG
Miles SEC record: 60-27 (69%) and 62-28 (69%) if you count SECCG

Moral of the story is that as of now, Miles does not have the best SEC record of an LSU coach, and his career SEC record of 69% is not significantly higher than several decade runs for LSU.

Another thing is that while we've had 2 very bad decades (50's and 90's), LSU has been:

1) above 0.500 in the SEC in 7 of the last 9 decades

2) above 0.600 in the SEC in 6 of the last 9 decades

That says a lot about LSU as a program and that I think the fans let the 90's and the tragedy of Bo Rein ruin their understanding of what level LSU is historically.
