In 2 1/2 quarters against Auburn, Tyler Wilson threw for as many TD's as JJ did during the 12 game season.

Hell, Ryan Mallett ran for as many TD's as JJ threw for TD's.

And you still lost more games..

I am not sure if I agree that we have the BEST qb situation but its up there. The exp that JJ and Lee have is invaluable and I think if one of them starts this year, they will have a really good year. If Mett starts then we have two great backups. Its a good situation that we payed for with several bad years of mediocre qb play.

This guy nailed it with this quote though,

LSU wins IN SPITE of their passing game.....BUT odds are Mettenberger will put up huge numbers with that talent....but even if he gets injured LSU will still have a good record as they are a mini NFL team talent wise....if Mettenberger lives up to the hype lsu will likely win a SECC and NC because they are that talented

I think what Low meant by "situation" is not only the qb's talent level, experience, or level of competition. But also the other factors that makes the qb's great such as o-line, rbs to take off the pressure, and the wr's they're throwing to.

Many of those posters make good points, i.e. unproven potential in Met doesn't equate to great qb situation and our 2 rising seniors are "proven" but what they've proven isn't that they are "great" qb's by any means.

:cookie:

I never mentioned JJ, at all.

Response was about all the "as good/better than Mallet" talk...
For a guy who lit up the worst secondary in the SEC, pretty overkill.

I think he'll be good in Petrino's offense fwiw
