Sorry if posted already. I searched and didn't see it....

LSU habitat upgrades under way; next Mike the Tiger to enjoy new pool, deluxe hot, cold rock.

With a new Mike the Tiger possibly arriving in August, LSU has begun a flurry of repairs and improvements to the habitat he will call home.

LSU timed the search for the next tiger around the current renovations. A list of repairs piled up after Mike VI died, LSU officials have said.

I loved that damn tiger so much. I was a sophomore at LSU when Mike V died and the campus literally mourned out in the open. Then we got Mike VI. I used to eat lunch by his habitat 2-3 times a week and watch him swim and swing on that rope thing. He died 3 days before I was coming to BR to say my last goodbyes. When he died, it was the first time my gf of 2 years saw me cry. I can't wait to meet Mike VII and welcome him into our fold. #ForeverLSU

I really do get an empty, sad feeling when I think about the latest Mike. I knew it'd be sad when he did pass, but I didn't expect to still be bummed about this far down the road. Him dying two months before graduating made it even more sentimental since my time at LSU was wrapping up. By all means, it really does feel like the loss of a pet. He'll always be my Mike.

Well said. I have the same sentiments. I spoke with his vet via email after his passing and everyone had a really hard time dealing with Mike's passing. It still bums me out as well.

Cheers brother. I watched him as a cub and felt a bond with him. I have literally grieved for him. Another alumnus and I met and were talking about M6. We both teared up and ended up hugging it out. There's nothing that would ever change my mind about having another tiger. They are a powerful symbol that connect us to the campus and to one another. I can't wait to meet the new tiger and I'm excited to meet new freshman and share my love for the school. The incoming freshman will have a unique experience of being on campus for the tigers arrival. I am always recruiting high school seniors I meet to go to LSU. When you love something, it's just a natural reaction to try and show other people so they can love it too.

I'm jealous, Mike lives a better life than 99% of the world with a multi-million dollar habitat that is always up to date. Gets feed the best food, access to the best health care there is. He really does live the life

Where do I sign up?

Mike VI was such a magnificent animal. I miss him so much. And dying at 11, that is far too young. I thought we'd have him at least another 6-7 years.

I do hope with these renovations, they finally put the dates of his reign (2007-2016) under his name on the outer habitat wall.

All LSU fans love the Mikes. But every alum loves their Mike the most.

My Mike was Mike IV, and my fondest memory of him was his nighttime freedom run in 1981. I also remember my sadness at his loss in 95. Old baw lived so long that he had to abdicate and retire to the BR Zoo!

Long live Mike VII.!
He deserves to ride through Tiger Stadium!!! Screw this PC shite!
