If they had hickey on last years team they would not have blown that 12 point lead to NC state. This year they desperately needed a point guard to stop the bleeding in games, hit free throws and take control. Jalyn Patterson was only offered bc he went to school with Ben and Josh Gray was a shooting guard in a point guards body. Hickey was the major reason we were respectable johnnys first year. Kudos to Johnny for bringing in Skylar Mays who is 6'3 and has a very high basketball IQ and is going to be able to hit free throws down the stretch to pair with Blakeney, Sampson and possibly TQ. That's going to be a hell of a back court! Guards win tournament games. The sky is the limit and I can't wait to next year.

Skylar Mays juco? This is what I am talking about so many ppl on this board who don't even watch basketball and are not true fans of the program. Just jump on the wave when the expectations are high.

Hickey would not have prevented the NC State loss
Hickey didn't do anything at OSU either
He was a problem head case from day 1
Finally Johnny had to run him

I don't buy this for a second. Do you not remember Hickey's woes from the free throw line?

So. why wasn't there a greater effort to recruit some who could legitimately play the position at this level the last 2 years?

Funny part is I know more about Skylar than you do about this current team.

And I think he is going to be an incredible addition to the team. But please, continue flooding this board with blind hatred and flaming. I am sure that will keep you around for a while

Did you watch the game last year. When did the momentum swing in the second half then? When who checked in the game?

Big men get you to the tournament and LSU doesn't have one that can stay on the floor all game and be productive

Did you really just link me the entire game? Why don't you just say the point you're trying to make. In English, preferably.

Hickey wasn't perfect but he thrived for big moments. Mays will be the best we have had in a long time.

We took a chance on Gray and it did not pan out. We have recruited some and were even in the finalist for Malik Newman. The basketball program is not a house name and still has to offer scholarships to players who are projects to have enough numbers to compete. Under Johnny we will eventually get to the point where the whole roster has SEC level talent. Darcy Malone and Bridgewater would not get an offer from LSU last year or this year.

The funny thing is myself and a couple others are adding positivity by supporting the program and our coach. I have also been watching Skylar for a while and think he will have a big impact next year. He is unselfish but still has the ability to create his own shot. Exactly what this team needs!

Why is that funny? Jones did an objectively terrible job across the board this season with his most talented squad in his coaching career.
