You truly flock to a swimming roast like flies to shite.

Do you think LSU gymnastics would have signed two olympians without the practice facility it's building?

Do you think LSU baseball would maintain its consistency with its peers without the new Alex Box?

I could go on and on, but the short answer is "no". simply put, LSU gets what it pays for. I'm not saying the coaches are elite, but I don't think it is fair to measure their performance to competitors with far more resources and tradition. Tony Minnis is an exception because the guy was at LSU for I think 16 seasons?

One thing is for sure: Joe Alleva doesn't put up with shitty coaches. He's fired plenty of coaches and let some gracefully "retire". If they suck, there's little doubt in my mind the two will be canned soon enough.

To be fair, aTm's women's numbers are skewed by many of the "male" teams also being included.

How many points are awarded for Yell Leaders?

Is that a men's or women's sport?

Agreed. The Natatorium is the worst swimming facility in the SEC. And it would be among the worst in any power 5 conference.

Let's take a look at Texas's swimming facility...

..why Texas, you ask? Because Les Miles' daughter Smacker swims for the Longhorns...

Just goes to show how far behind LSU is in terms of swimming facilities...

...because when it comes to comparing swimming facilities to our fellow SEC schools, and schools around the country, LSU is in the dark ages.

Way past time for a change.

No you do go on and on with your BS.

Gymnastics had one of, if not the worst gymnastics facilities in the country and they were #3 in the Nation. Before they even announced the building of the new facility. But that is fact, something that you don't seem to factor into your BS.

No one was complaining about the facilities when the women's swim team was 15th in the Nation and the men were 24th in the Nation (Geyer's first year). Now that the men are last in D1 and the women have 35 teams ahead of us in D1 swimming, the facility is suddenly the reason for the decline.

It's not a swim roast, just the facts. If Alleva gets rid of failing coaches, why is Geyer still here?

Winning championships must not be a pre-requisite.

"and schools around the country".....yet we are still getting spanked by schools with worse facilities than LSU. How can that be?

How did the old "Box" rate Nationally in terms of baseball facilities? Coach Skip built a college baseball dynasty out of that rickety old place.

Actually, I have to call you on that...here's a link to LSU Swimming and Diving schedules...

...please feel free to point out those schools that defeated LSU and have worse swimming facilities than the Natatorium.

Good luck with that!

I would have to refer you to the NCAA Championship Meet Results page. That link would not be found on the LSU Swimming and Diving link (for obvious reasons).

There are at least 5, as pointed out by BigJR on a previous thread, Florida Gulf Coast for one. And this school does not even have a Natatorium, they swim outside and rent lane space from the community "lap pool" in bad weather. I believe they doubled the score that we posted at the NCAA's if memory serves me.

Of the 47 meets on the 2014-15 schedule, not one of the schools LSU swam an away meet at had a worse swimming facility than the Natatorium.

And keeping in mind that this is a thread about LSU winning the SEC Men's All-Sports Trophy, I can absolutely say that no other school in this conference has a worse swimming facility than the Natatorium.

Which is the point. The whole reason I created Where LSU athletic facilities rank in the SEC... was to show that the Natatorium is LSU's Achilles Heel, when it comes to athletic facilities. Especially when compared to our conference brethren.

Where do you start when you are dealing with the uninformed?

First, confricken grats to the lady Tiger Softball team.

Now. We are not talking about "conference" brethren. We are talking about NCAA, National, D1, "in the Country", the USA. You keep slipping back to "conference" when the discussion is NCAA.

Let's digress. Coach Shaffer (LSU Diving Coach) recruits the best coaches and recruits in the Country, year after year. He shows up at SEC's and NCAA's and Kicks U Know What.

He is not complaining about the facilities. The same facilities shared by the swim team. He produces results and the swim team produces excuses (at least for the past 5 years).

I am learning about baseball from the passionate and informed baseball fans and treads here on the rant, but swimming is my passion. I want nothing more than success for LSU Swimming.

So to the swimming uniformed, the development of the collegiate swimmer is two fold. Work done in the pool (50%), most would argue it is only 40%. And "dry land" workouts outside of the pool(50%), most would argue it is more like 60%. When I say "most" I am referring to coaches of the the top ten programs in the Nation, D1, NCAA, "in the country", USA.

So where do LSU swimmers do their "dry land" workouts (most of their development)?

1. In the best weight training facility in the Nation (which has A/C).
2. In the comfort of the LSU Football indoor training facility. (which has A/C).
3. With the best collegiate fitness trainers in the country.
4. They are fed at the best student athlete nutrition center in the Nation.
5. They have access to some of the best collegiate sports venues in the Nation.
6. Great Education !!!
7. I could go "on and on".....

Swimmers at LSU get the best of the best in 60% of their development as collegiate swimmers. Period. What they seem to lack is the 40% development in the pool.

You do the math.

Peace.

Remind me, what's the title of this thread again?

If you're trying to make the case that the dilapidated, antiquated, miserable excuse for a swimming facility LSU has hasn't affected LSU's recruitment of swimmers...no sale.

Every other athletic facility on campus says "LSU is committed to winning!" about their respective sports. This one doesn't.

Bottom line.
