Not really bad, just seems that way down the stretch..I think this year seems much improved over the last few years, without checking...

Not bad... it's not a major strength like it is for Ole Miss, but it's not a crutch either. I'll take it.

As to understand the complaints about their FT shooting, what are the league stats in the final minutes of close games?

this. the last few years LSU has seemed pretty bad at free throws, but they always tended to make them when they counted. this year its almost like the oposite, even though FT's have only screwed them over in 1 game

I don't understand this mentality. Points are points... If you take care of them early, then you won't have as many opportunities down the stretch for them to either help or hurt you. I would much rather shoot better overall and worse in the 4th quarter than poorly all game and well at the end.

Wow 7 schools shooting under 70% as a team and 1 almost at .600, a little rough

hah. Touché. Too excited for the pels win streak I suppose.

My point applies regardless whether they play quarters or halves...

Fans of a particular team are so focused on the flaws they perceive of that team that they fail to pay attention to the flaws that other teams have. I suggest that all of our fans take time to watch a game where they don't pull for either team. I guarantee that they will realize that basketball players from all teams make similiar mistakes, given the way that games are played, today.

Still, knowing some of our fans, LSU could be leading the SEC in FT% and there would still be loud complaints about how terrible they are in FT shooting. As you can see in some posts following the OPs, some suggest that we are terrible at FT in the clutch. If there were some way to calculate percentages of FTs missed in the last 3 to 5 intues of a game, I would be willing to bet that LSU falls around the same place that we fall in the stats, overall (5th).

Improved but the inconsistency is a killer. Poor free throw shooting contributed heavily in 3 of the 4 losses.
