LSU is a “next year team”

yea we get it, LSU basketball is a solid team and could (not likely) make a run deep into the tourney this year dependent on the help our bench gives.
Let’s face it. LSU is a good team with a starting 5 that could compete with nearly any other starting 5 in the land. However, the depth of this team is lacking, which i believe will cause problems down the stretch.
Come 2020-2021, this team is likely an elite 8 team, with a final 4 ceiling. If CWW can convince some guys to return (Watford, were looking at you) for another year, along with a stout recruiting class, the rest of the nation should be put on watch.

We also need a some more height on the squad... seemed like we were getting out rebounded after the half be we had a few more because darius days went off on the offensive glass

Basketball players tend to leave early. They have a shite ton of options overseas that pays pretty good. I don't see how LSU will be even as good as this year when y'all will be losing Watford, Smart, Days, Mays and Williams.

I must be missing something. I know we have a 5 and a 4 star but it still doesn’t seem like we have much in the way of big men which is obviously a problem this year.
We lose Skylar who is the glue to this team. I don’t expect much different next year.

I'm just giving g y'all a heads up for disappointment. College players nowadays are not loyal to their school and if Wade is still the same WW from VCU he promises all the players he recruits that they will make it big in the NBA or over seas and he'll do everything to get them there quick as possible.
Watford and Smart are 100 percent gone. Days is 50/50.
Watford will be a solid second round pick in the NBA draft. Franchises draft on potential and they'd love to mold him into a better player in the NBA G-league. Smart and Days will make solid money in Europe or China with a chance at the NBA after a couple seasons over there IF they show out.

In his first 2.5 seasons at LSU Will Wade has won an SEC title at 16-2 and been to a sweet 16 and has LSU poised for another tournament appearance.
In his first three years at Virginia, Tony Bennett went 5-11, 7-9, 9-7 in ACC play and got bounced in the first round of the tournament once.
In his first three years at Auburn, Bruce Pearl never made the tournament and went a combined 16-38 in league play.
I think those two programs are on pretty even ground. It's a process. Sure, it's frustrating because of our atrocious defensive stats and our awful 3 point shooting but if we're judging by these fairly successful programs, LSU is on it's way there.
