There are several good choices in the SEC but we on the SEC blog went with LSU's white jerseys with the gold (or yellow, more accurately) helmet and pants. Alabama's look (particularly the helmet) is definitely a classic and worthy of consideration but there's something about the Tigers, who got an exception to the NCAA's "must wear color at home" uniform rule granted in 1995 when then-head coach Gerry DiNardo was determined to restore their uniform tradition. Maybe it's because they've played so many memorable games on Saturday nights in Death Valley wearing that particular uniform (when at home, they now only wear whites for the home opener or SEC games), maybe it's the fierce Tiger head under the letters L-S-U on the side of the helmet or the purple-and-gold stripes on each shoulder but the Tigers' whites are appealing to us.

I'll never understand this. Not only is it basically a practice uni, there is no one helmet to display.

Bama can go DIAF

but I respect their uniforms. They're a classic and you can't deny that.

It's a red helmet with a white stripe and white numbers. That's exactly where the "classic and worthy of consideration" comes from. Those types of helmets were around all the time decades ago (even LSU used them!) and while they're look is basic, not changing them at all is what makes them so identifiable.

I'm convinced that ESPN does things like this occasionally just to draw clicks from TD.

Or to draw clicks from people who obsess over college football so much that even with NBA Finals, NHL Finals, College Baseball Tournament, International Soccer, and MLB going on, they just can't make it through the summer without some more "news" about football

In the last few days, we've been named best stadium, and we've been picked as best uniforms. Can we count those as wins to offset our November failures?

The only reason anyone likes Bamas uniforms is because of their historical success, not the uniforms themselves.

Yeah. But what he's really saying is...when he sees those uniforms..he starts to wee wee in his pants.

But I thought the narrative was ESPN hates LSU!? Which is it guys, it's getting exhausting keeping up with this.

If we're going with alternates, gimme our purple tops with white bottoms and white helmet over Ole Miss powder blues.
