Get these guys to buy in defensively and i can see a pretty marked turnaround, 7-9 sec wins, something like that. South Carolina had virtually no talent, we've got AB, sampson, reath, mays, epps, and some other guys who will fit what he wants to do.

no talent and located in ACC country, Martin has done a remarkable job there but I don't think our timeline will be quite as long

The big thing is will they play smart enough. Not saying they can't, but none of them have ever had to so far.
That was Quin Snyder's biggest on-court issue at Mizzou. The players he had just weren't smart enough to do what he was asking them to do.

damn you for emphasizing "on court"

Getting some real hands on coaching should help. Wade is a technical guy so i'd expect our fundamentals improve a ton.
Guys like Jenkins, Patterson (who I can't stand but hope he embraces the change), and the 2 freshmen should be nice pieces to work with defensively. Need to start scouring the grad transfer market for some post help.

Yeah, I have a buddy up here that worked in the athletic department when he was in college at Mizzou and Quin was the coach then. A whole bunch of really good stories.

Oh man, i can only dream.

Patterson has digressed so much or should I say his game has not evolved at all. His attitude in his freshman yr was great this yr he seemed disinterested and made some of the dumbest iq plays I've seen.
It would be nice to see what Jenkins can actually bring when 100% healthy.
Epps is the biggest wildcard in that it seems as though he has the tools to be effective but never gets over the hump

Several coaches have used the VCU job as a stepping-stone to higher-profile programs. But administrators are betting that Wade will not only continue the program’s winning ways but also stick around a while. They’re paying him a million dollars a year for the next five years to make sure he’s
well...lost that bet

Should we expect the press conference tomorrow?

What do we know about his personal life! Married? Kids?
Posted on 3/21/17 at 10:05 am to CaroTiger
Married. Let's give Lauren a warm welcome.
This guy is going to be great with the clipboard. Already ahead of Baton Rouge traffic.

Wade married his girlfriend, a Vanderbilt graduate student named Lauren Deason (also a sports media undergrad from University of North Carolina) who matched his passion for college sports

“Will’s one rule is it had to be within eight minutes to the office,” Lauren says. “And we’re right at eight, which is the farthest he’s ever lived from work.”

Why couldn't AlleVA hire Kevin Keatts before NC State did? Will Wade is okay, but it's a total gamble. He won with the previous coaches upper class men at each school. I would have liked to see what he could have done with his own recruits and freshman...

That isn't quite accurate, people act like he inherited a full cupboard from Shaka are not correct.
the guy who has one less season as a HC than Wade?

Texas fans were downright giddy when former athletic director Steve Patterson reeled in Smart. But VCU fans were probably aghast at their future.
VCU’s leading scorer Treveon Graham and defensive superstar Briante Weber ran out of eligibility. Promising freshman Terry Larrier, who averaged 6.6 points in 18.5 minutes, abruptly transferred to Connecticut. All three recruits who signed with VCU under Smart backed out and went elsewhere, including guard Tevin Mack, who landed in Austin.

Just a month ago, the Rams were suffering, buried under the combination of a rigorous nonconference schedule and a squad lacking the talent of recent VCU teams. Wade cobbled together a roster in the spring after three incoming freshmen went elsewhere when Smart departed.

Keatts is just as much a gamble and has never won a game in the tournament.

Damn, cupboard was bare. And he still took that team to the tourney?
