LSU had 6 sacks versus Mississippi St.?

LSU has a total of 11 sacks so far on the season
(9th overall in the nation, 2nd in the SEC to only Florida)

For reference

In Chavis final season our defense was last in the entire SEC in sacks with a total of 19 sacks. Which put us at 103rd in the entire country.. That should never happen with an LSU Dline! That's sad.

Even last season, with the addition of Coach Orgeron and Steele.. LSU had 34 total sacks (tied for 3rd in the SEC) and that was with 1 less game than everyone else..

Defense is legit. With all the offensive talent, all LSU lacks is a good QB who is smart enough to transfer here and enable that talent.

It is exciting.

I really like the direction LSU is taking on strengthening the DLine and LBs lately. Seem to be building better talent/depth there.

Absolutely, they're just getting started. And Toliver has had good coverage, he just has to find or play the ball on some of those passes like back shoulder throws.

Valentine improving his conditioning is huge.

Orgeron deserves all the money. Pay him whatever it takes to keep him here forever.

Not to mention they are getting better every game. It is very exciting watching this defense go to work. Not to mention Key is in the perfect system to shine! Monster off the edge.

I love sacks don't get me wrong, but give me chavis' 14 over Steele's 15 Defense all day.

I think we can have the best of both worlds with aranda this year.

It seems you don't understand football. The defense was on the field a lot more than 6 plays. The D did not get consistent pressure, not even close. Their qb had far too much time to find receivers. A defense needs more than a handful of sacks to prove it's getting pressure. Consistent pressure is more important than a few sacks.

Arden Key already has five sacks. They were saying last night only three players in LSU history have 10 or more sacks in a season.

The sec rant says we soft on D and some idiot said we weak on the dlines. Hell he said On both sides
Of the ball. Oline impressed me last night running about 70%. They should be fine if they can shake injury bug.

What a shame that Les probably put together the best defensive staff in college football, but he's going to squander it because of his bffls

I wonder if the people who downvoted you realize we were 2nd in the SEC in scoring defense in 2014, and 10th in 2015.

If you prefer more sacks over less points allowed, you're retarded.

I think Tolliver had grown accustomed to reading the reciever for when to turn hips & head for the ball. He just ran into some really well coached WRs who are skilled at bringing up their hands late and not giving ball-in-air away with eyes or body language.

It is worth noting Valentine is indeed playing more downs, he's getting there. There is also improvement in Gilmore. The rotations of DL are getting interesting. As Aranda implements more and more the front 7 will look better and better.

Chavis' defense gave up 24 to Wisconsin and 34 to Miss St.

Aranda gave up 16 and 23 respectively.
