This, we can agree upon. LSU’s failure to bring home hardware got Les Miles fired. There’s a clear argument that LSU’s experienced a downturn in performance over the last half decade. The issue is, the downturn is from a previous decade of unparalleled success. That doesn’t make LSU mediocre, no matter how frustrated you are with the results.

I really think LSU football is in a weird in between place.... too successful to be considered just mediocre, but not successful enough to be "relevant" or "elite". I think it's that weird in between place that gives our fans...at least me..an expectation that were gonna achieve more this time

I'm not sure I buy this argument....seems to just depend on how you frame it. In other words...we have had a downturn for 5 years but we were awesome for a decade before that...therefore we are still not mediocre? How many years do we include the 2000s before we admit that our program is no longer at that level? 5? 10? In other words...after being a powerhouse....how many years of mediocre performance do you get before you can no longer claim you are a powerhouse?

What got Miles fired was not adapting to 21st century offensive thinking. Even Saban did that!!

We have been mediocre. 1 2nd place finish in the division (division, not conference) in 5 years IS mediocre. History doesn't mean shite.

tDecline was real. IS real. It hasn't been reversed from what I can tell. Do not know yet if it's been stalled.

There is time, recruiting is a trailing indicator AND can be a causal factor. We haven't seen that decline wholesale yet (under Miles or CEO), so it can be reversed. Time is limited, but you won't know those time limits until it's done. When you see that "time is up", it will be in hindsight.
