I always heard when nick saban came he made sure the top compliance leaders were working in the ticket office for basketball but got their positions back when saban left for Miami. If that is true how did saban get them out of his way and when he left how did they get their positions back? Derek if you want to do anything positive can you at least get them out of the way again so we don't have players sitting out for minor things that other schools don't give a damn about. I remember a couple of weeks ago hannigriff said when the compliance department busted the Akeem hicks situation that they were popping champagne bottles in celebration. In the words of Dave Chappelle doing the Samuel L. Jackson beer skit "theeeey caaaan buuuurn in heeeell."

I don't have a problem w/ our compliance department being strict.

Screw being a laughing stock like Ole Miss or Auburn.

You kidding?

The greatest thing that could happen to this program is Ed O gets caught trying to pay a players brother and gets fired with cause.

bro, a good compliance department is a must in college sports today....unless you don't want your team to have scholarships to give or play in bowl games...

I'm talking about our players always get in trouble for failed drug test but at bama not one player gets busted for a failed drug test. During the NFL combine you hear about all the failed drug tests that Tim Williams had while playing over there. Cam and hootie get caught with drugs and stolen guns no punishment or suspensions. I'm all for a good run program but when other schools are not playing by the same rules then we shouldn't be as strict with our players over minor stuff if other schools are not.

There is a happy medium between allowing cheating and hindering your program with insignificant precautions.

They are too good at their jobs. They catch and self report way too much. Stuff no other school would begin to report.

You do make a good point with this post. Every other SEC school has suspended players for failed drug tests and many times it's starters. Bama never has any starters suspended for failed drug tests. Oh, they have players get caught with weed during the offseason but "somehow" these guys clean themselves up all season? Yeah, I ain't buying it. I really don't give a shite about players smoking weed.
