MSU played 3 more top 50 teams than LSU, but LSU played 5 more 50-100 teams than MSU, yet one is 18 in SOS and the other is 78. That makes no sense to me. IMO better wins should count more than bad losses.

The BCS got it right more often than not, and it wasn't really even close. The playoff was implemented for revenue purposes, not because the BCS was broken.
