God I hope not, the Jordan twins aren't everyday players. Spot starters and bench bats.
He might mean Adams.

Nice. Astro is getting married next year so I need to find another stats guy I can rely on to do my work for me...

Football brings out the crazies on this board, and no one cares about basketball. But baseball season is when this board is at the absolute best. A few idiots, sure, but a lot of great information and great discussion.

Look forward to reading what you and the others have to say as the season gets underway.

It's not baseball season until I get my first post of the year with 25 downvotes.

Nah I was talking about Jordan. Adams is the only other realistic option isn't he?

You have 2 others who may be even higher than them.

Jake Slaughter and Mason Templet - Athletic, tall freshmen. Jake has the higher ceiling and will be on the left side of the infield one day. But Templet can rake it with the best of them and already has better plate discipline than Adams.

Slaughter got work at 1B in fall games. Adams, Jordan, Slaughter, Templet, and probably even Coomes are options there.

IMO, Slaughter is probably in the lead. There will probably be some rotation between LF/1B/DH though to get a lot of guys ABs until we find the right combo.

I knew about Slaughter. I figure he will be the SS in 2018? I wasn't sure about his ability to play 1st, particularly to start the season.

I don't know much of anything about Templet.

I think it depends on how Smith does at 3B. If he struggles a little, he may go to 2B in 18, but I doubt that. He'll be at SS and Slaughter will get 3B. He's been looked at there already but once Smith showed the better glove, they moved Slaughter to 1B. Templet is the closest thing to Blake Dean as a freshman as we've seen since him. 6'1. Bats left. 1B his only real fielding spot. Tons of power potential.

Slaughter is great athlete, can play anywhere. I hope he gets the 1B job. Gives LSU better defense on the corners and keeps another Jordan out of the lineup

Anyone go to the Houston classic last year? If so any recommendations on where to stay? I reserved a room at the Westin downtown right across from the ball park. Just looking for any info, thanks!

Really hope they pick, develop, and stick with a Sunday starter. That's been our achilles heel for years.

What freshman do we expect to make an immediate impact other than Slaughter?

Position guys Smith, possibly Templet and Watson.

Pitchers: Peterson, Hess, Walker, Kiel(JC)

Hilton Americas is where we stayed. LSU people everywhere and it's where a couple teams stayed as well. Nebraska and LSU at least.
