Reading the comments on the Rant about the LSU Baseball asst. coaches and just wanted to make a few comments.
1) I've never been impressed with David Grewe. In college baseball, I think you need a teacher of the game as a pitching coach. In college baseball, there are very few dominant pitchers in the game that don't need a lot of teaching. i.e. Ranaudo. For the most part, you have pitchers that are talented to an extent, but need those extra pointers to be a great pitcher in college baseball. Look at Matty Ott had a GREAT freshmen season, was sub-par last year and so-so, so far this year. I think Ott would greatly benefit from a hands-on guy as a pitching coach. Grewe's coaching style is hands-off, with him providing advice when he feels necessary.(This article from the 08' goes into more detail. LINK
2. I don't think we'll see a change at Hitting Coach. Coach Mainieri and Coach Sanchez have the same aggressive hitting and baserunning philosophies, so unless Coach Mainieri wants to look elsewhere I think Sanchez stays.

So, the pitchers have the same problem the qb's had. Sounds about right.

I'm not sure what about the current "hitting philosophy" could be called aggressive. What Ole Miss was doing yesterday, jumping on the first decent fastball they saw, seems to fit that description much better than our kids getting down in the count. What am I missing?

Grewe is hands off because he doesnt have a clue. What the heck is he being paid for??
He has NEVER ptiched or been a pitching coach.
