Just because they are skinny doesn't mean they aren't athletes. Mainieri is recruiting for speed and we have plenty of that. This team is full of athletes. The only thing he has really stayed away from is the Matt Clark/Wes Rea type 1st basemen that should be playing TE on the football team.

Because that is college baseball. We have a team with a couple of guys with power and and bunch of guys with decent speed. But we don't use that speed the way we should. Not enough straight steals. I realize that not everyone on this team is a steal threat because they are fast. But the fast ones need to be coached up early how to steal, how to work counts, how to bunt. That's not happening. There really is no coherent offensive strategy.

KRob, if he ever turns into to what we want him to be, would be considered "scrappy." Other than that, I don't think we have any. I think we have a bunch of average type players that were recruited to hit average. Nobody is a real power guy and nobody is a real small ball guy. Hale might could be a power guy I guess.

KRob starts once a week. Hale, Scivicque, and Fraley are all new starters and none of them are small

I was thinking more about next year. I'm over this season. And that's why I only mentioned KRob as scrappy. I don't consider Fraley a power guy.
