That surprised me too.

He also said that the only reason that he agreed to play A&M on Thanksgiving is because LSU would have a bye week immediately before and he wouldn't agree to play on Thanksgiving for years where that wasn't the case.

The whole conversation about TurkeyDay/A&M seemed a bit rushed imo. I'd like to hear him come on again and actually discuss the issue a bit better.

Don't remember where I read it, but I seem to remember that this was part of the deal with the new playoff system. It's been out there, but hasn't been publicized.

He said he couldn't tell CBS not to pick them for the Friday after Thanksgiving game because they would forfeit the tv money.

A) Saban told CBS not to pick them, and they listened. Does anybody really think that the LSU/Arky game gets more ratings than the Iron Bowl? Why did they move the Iron Bowl off of Friday?

B) Does A&M forfeit tv money for moving the LSU/A&M game to Thanksgiving night when CBS can not show the game?

Come on Charlie, we needed these questions.

So what if 2 different commissioners want their team to be an at-large bid?

Do they mud wrestle over it?

So he thinks its in our best interests to have to wait till the second to last week of the season to use a bye week vs a tamu team that went 8-4 this year and is losing manziel.... It's worse than I thought

No, only if it's the second bye week. Hanagriff asked if he would want the bye week that late for seasons where there was only one. Alleva said in that case he would want the bye in the middle of the season and would refuse to play A&M on Thursday.

The Chicken Bowl becomes a "major" bowl along with the Cotton next season so it won't be so bad

Yeah I get that but you realize we were the last automatic qualifying team in the nation to take a bye week this year? They have made it painfully obvious that they are going to take a bye week before the week of Bama every. I understand but we could use that second bye week before Ole Miss or before another SEC team where we have a long sec stretch like this year or next year. Instead you are forced to put your second bye week on the Saturday before Thanksgiving or else you risk having a huge upset in that week or being unprepared for A&M

I did not.

Alleva explicitly said that's what they've been doing. I'm not agreeing with him, just relaying what was said.

I'm just venting a little bit because he decides to play lapdog to the SEC rather than acting in LSU's best interest

There will be no Chicken Bowl next year. Atlanta is part of the playoff now.

The 6 playoff bowls will still choose teams like they do now (as long as they meet certain criteria). It's the other SEC bowls that the SEC office will assign teams to.

Yeah knew this b/c the BCS is done.

I believe the Cotton is no longer SEC-Affiliated either.
