Led by senior Hunter Stinson's seven goals, and fine defensive play by their goalie Rick Batista, the Tigers pounded Auburn Friday night 15-8. LSU jumped out to a 7-1 lead and cruised the rest of the way to a dominant win against a very good Auburn team. LSU improves their record to 4-0 on the season and will travel next weekend to Ft. Worth to play TCU.

I know next to nothing about LAX, except what I've seen in two documentaries--we just don't play it in Louisiana and I've had so little exposure to it. I know how the game works, obviously, but...LSU isnt good right?

Like, I dont mean that in an insulting way. I mean, the SEC is very weak and ours is a non-scholly team, so we must not be very good, yes? I'd imagine teams in Upstate New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania--and uppity schools like Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, and Duke are good, yes? Just curious. I'll hang up and listen.

Actually, this LSU team is VERY good. I would encourage you to come and watch them. They only have two home games left on the schedule against ULL and Texas, March 21st and April 3rd. They could also host a first round playoff game. Currently LSU is ranked in the top ten in their power ranking and will most likely make the playoffs but have only played one game in their division against Texas A&M. Last season a new staff took over the program and has elevated it to the level of an elite club team. This is not the same club level team that used to play games on the Parade Grounds that you might have seen in the past. They are capable of going deep into the playoffs and have attracted players from all over the county. Their best player just happens to be from Lafayette!

I think you are stretching the truth a bit here. There is no doubt that LSU has improved a ton this year. I strongly believe that they could win their conference. However, if they make the MCLA playoffs, it will probably result in a first round exit. This isn't a knock on LSU, but teams from the RMLC (CU Boulder, BYU, CSU) and the SLC (Arizona State, Chapman, Grand Canyon, UCSB) are insanely talented and operate like varsity programs. Last season Chapman had a roster of 55 guys.

LSU winning their conference and making the MCLA tournament would be a huge accomplishment, but it will be a few more years and continued recruiting (yes, these other teams recruit players) before they are able to compete with the bigger MCLA tournament.

The more I here about LAX, the more I like it. Looks like a very fun sport that wasn't available where I grew.

First off.. Great win Tigers.
Secondly.. I hope LSU continues to recruit out of state talent and becomes a damn fine D1 team some day.
But lastly, for as great as this sport is, I'm hoping that LAX doesn't become a popular sport in Louisiana. The fact that football and baseball dominate our local kids sporting lives is what guarantees our amazing in state football talent. Sure we lose the occacional football talent to the MLB but those sports keep our kids active all year round and then there are only two sport choices for kids to pursue, for the most part. I'm out in California and this state's best athletes have so many options that there football talent gets watered down. There are wonderful west coast athletes that surf, ski, snowboard, play soccer, basketball, LAX, volleyball etc. this is why Louisiana has more NFL players per capita. Our athletes primarily play football and baseball. (Track too but that sport basically just keeps the football talent in shape throughout the year.) A 6'5" kid with quick feet is probably going to become a lineman or TE. In the northeast that kid has a good chance of become a basketball Power Forward instead.

So LAX is a great sport but I hope Louisiana kids stick with Football and baseball.

As long as Football, Basketball and Baseball dominate the professional scene and college level, the "good" atheletes will generally always chase that dream. LAX has about as much chance of watering down the pool of good to great atheletes in this those sports as soccer does. I'm in Calfornia too in very strong area of both boys and girls LAX. Many of the kids play multiple sports and those that stick with LAX do so for getting into schools of thier choice, many of the tough schools back east.

SEC would do well to establish D1 programs for both girls and boys LAX. As for girls, Florida is the only SEC school with a D1 program and is ranked in the top 5 in the country with a program that has been around for around 5 years.

How far is LSU or any SEC school away from going D1?

Grew up around lacrosse and wouldn't mind seeing it expand down here

Exactly, unless title ix goes away, power 5 schools (outside of the ACC and Big 10) will probably remain in the MCLA (club lacrosse) and never go D1. The last power 5 school to go D1 was Michigan and they used to dominate the MCLA.

So you want the 99% of kids who have no shot at playing college football or baseball to have only two sports to choose from to somehow protect LSU? Seriously?

Kids should gave as many choices and opportunities as possible to play a sport.

LSU will be just fine.
