The AP is an important poll. Essentially, all that this really means is that we're pretty much guaranteed a spot in the playoffs as long as we don't end up with more than one loss.

Solid arse spot. Damn near second ranked team in the SEC. I'll take it.

That's a good spot. Back enough that we don't have to hear the constant "is LSU overrated" speak from the media. Just win and let your performance do the talking.

I read that wrong. 10 straight seasons that bama has been #1 in the AP at some point.

I believe if Oline can some what stay healthy and Ettling is improved we can go 10-2 maybe better. That's also depending that the freshman are as good as O says! Would like to see other WRs emerge besides chark. I believe those will be the main questions around this team (WRs, Oline depth, ettlings improvement) not worried about defense one bit. Dline should be best since 2011, and the secondary is always elite. Devin white will be your beckwith up the middle, also Corey Thompson will have a big year at the other OLB (F spot). Not worried about that unit at all!

I think ettling will be improved in Canada's system and have a good last year. I'm thinking top 10 finish

You don't think that even if LSU started un-ranked and finished with only one loss they wouldn't be in consideration for the playoffs?

The only spots that matter in preseason polls are #1 and #2. That's because the voters are lazy and generally will not drop a team from 1 or 2 until they actually lose. Ask 2004 Auburn. USC and Oklahoma started 1 and 2. They didn't lose a game. Thus, Auburn was shut out of the national title game despite going undefeated

Great position for a team has brand new staff and 1st year players as starters. They win all their games until Bama. It would number 2 LSU vs Number 1 Bama.

I like the enthusiasm, however the road schedule is a gauntlet.

9-3 tops.

Won't beat Bama.
Florida is a toss-up.
Tenn. is a toss-up.
Arkansas is a toss-up.
Auburn is a toss-up.

But if we beat Bama at their place can we beat them again in the first round of the playoffs?
