quote:Don't get me wrong. I think JOB has improved a lot with his ball handling and not dribbling quite as much (although still too much). And bringing him up to the top of the key opens up some offensive opportunities. But I still just don't trust him enough.
I think his last 4 games or so he has been a very effective passer. He had 3 assists against Missouri. I don't like him dribbling, but having the ball up high is fine with me. They have done an effective pick and pass play with him and hickey where jOB passes to Hickey around a screen that I like.
Last four games he has gotten assists but also turnovers:
A TO
Texas A&M 2 5
Kentucky 2 4
Missouri 3 3
Miss. State 2 3
It's not just the physical ability to pass the ball that bothers me, it is the decision making also.

I agree Tom. He still continues some of his bad habits over and over.
He's finally gotten a little better with his shot selectiion but that took a year-and-a-half.
But he still continually brings the ball too low, he still turns into the double team a bit too much and makes it more difficult on himself. He still gets a traveling call or two every game.
As he's been consistently doubled by every team this year save maybe Kentucky, he's gotten alot of exposure and experience. Hopefully that pays off as year continues.

I'm telling you right now, the best coaching job Johnny Jones will have to do is ahead of them this off-season in convincing JOB III to stay for 1 more year. I guarantee you he is thinking NBA after these double doubles he keeps throwing up.

I agree t-bird. Last I looked the guy wasn't on any mock draft boards, but he very badly wants to go pro...he wanted to go last year.
The announcers for every game pimp him up for the double-doubles, and some of them even say he's NBA ready. Lack of preparation I guess.
I'm sure he hears that, and maybe some of the folks outside the LSU basketball family hear that I'm sure they get in his ear with it.

I'm not worried about the past because we know he's been bad, what I see is the assist numbers going up and the turnover numbers going down. He is getting better. From here on out he will need to continue improving but I like the idea. Don't limit his touches because the turnovers, get better at it.
