re: LSU / UW

I don't know any good places to stay, BUT I can tell you avoid the La Quinta on Siegen like a black plague. Stayed there a couple of weeks ago when I brought my son down for football camp. It is a PIT!!

my trip to Seattle a couple of years ago was in the top two or three away game trips ever...absolutely enjoyable...

you will find baton rouge totally different from seattle...quite a bit cheaper but absolutely lacking any decent public transportation system...I would recommend renting a car or staying at a hotel with a shuttle to the game...

as the others have said, your ideal locations would be the cook hotel or the staybridge...but there is almost no chance of booking either one at this point...

if you can't get one of those, try the hilton down town...nice area and they have a shuttle...

if that is not available, you are gonna have to take what you can get and I would recommend the hotel indigo downtown or anything on constitution (which is where I stay)...

on constitution, there is a crowne plaza, hampton, holiday inn select, embassy suites, etc. and all are good places to stay...you can walk from constitution to the stadium if you have to, but it would be an epic walk through residental areas crowded with game traffic and I wouldn't recommend it at all...get a rental car if you stay in that area...

I hope you enjoy your trip(within reason, no UW victory). As for your time in the French Quarter. Enjoy yourself, and whatever you do stay away from the Bourbon street gimmick drinks like Hand Grenades and Jesters. There are a ton of good restaurants around there for good dinners and breakfast. Check out the food board for some recommendations. I would recommend going to Cochon a couple blocks from the WW2 museum. James Beard award winning chef, and reasonably priced for downtown(entree's in the low 20's)

Did Dalton really say that about the short side option?

I'd definitely rent a car. Getting TO the game mite not be an issue without one, but with the post game traffic nitemare, you're much better off having your own transportation. Enterprise usually has a good wkend package with no mileage charges. If you are considering walking from downtown, factor in the heat if it's a day game & there is a good chance it will.Also, walking back, anywhere, after a full day of tailgating round Tiger Stadium can be difficult after all you will be eating & drinking.

Man I cannot wait to go to this game. I hear that LSU tailgates are one of the best in the country… can anyone let me know what to expect when I cruise through the tailgate area.. is it in a field, parking lot.. multiple parking lots, how are visiting fans received when trying to socialize.. where to go etc. I would also like to know about the younger night life for after the game if anyone can elaborate on that aspect. Good places to eat seafood or whatever other specialties you may want to share for others to check out?? Sorry about requesting all the information but I am so excited for this game I don’t want to miss anything. One last thing anyone ever stayed in the super 8 by the stadium?? Sounds a little risky but the price is too good to pass up??
