How the hell can they call a late hit WHEN THE PLAYER WAS NOT DOWN! WTF? First that targeting bullshite, now you can't hit somebody? How many times have you seen a player run for extra yards or even a touchdown when everyone thought he was down(auburn 2010 NC) . Im glad Loston laid the wood on that guy. He could have caused a fumble. It's unlikely that would have effected us winning though, but shite like that is ruining football...

All bais Bama's fans don't either bother posting on this tread. Nobody cares.

Yeah it was absolutely a horrible call. It was also definitely not targeting that was also a bs argument.

Gary and Verne were absolutely horrible last night.

He was a defenseless player. It was targeting by the definition of the rule. I hate the rule, but that was the definition of the penalty.

Riseup did they call targeting? Nope. It was called a "late hit".

If he doesn't hit him and he gets away and runs for a td, then what would be said?

They didn't call it, but that's because the refs all year have proven their ineptitude in calling the penalty. It's new to them and the penalty itself is a gray area. I've seen less malicious hits get called targeting this year.

What exactly is a defenseless player? He was not down. He had already caught the ball. So what exactly made him defenseless?

That seemed obvious to me as well.

The refs blew the call.
As you said, he was not on the ground, the whistle had not been blown, so it was not a late hit.

However, it was targeting:
1. Defenseless in that he was wrapped up by another defender
2. Loston left his feet, propelling himself toward Norwood
3. Loston led with his helmet
4. Loston hit Norwood above the shoulders.

The hit met 4 separate criteria for "Targeting"

All that said, I still think the rule is horseshite

How? He was still up and not running? He was looking straight at Loston while Loston poped his arse. What do you want Loston to do just sit there and watch him fight for extra yards?

I see your point but HOW ELSE COULD LOSTON HIT HIM? How can you hit somebody without going helmet first when he is in that position? Please tell me how you do that?

Yet not a single 'Bama county heard from when it comes to the hit on Landry earlier in the game.

Multiple angles show HaHa leading with his shoulder to Landry's shoulder.

Nonetheless, I would not have been surprised in the least to see a flag thrown

I dont' understand how the NCAA could even make up targeting. So if somebody gets blindsided is that targeting? Like on special teams or on defense. Arn't they defenseless? The fact is that all this targeting bullshite has made the refs throw flags on every single big hit...
