It’s out of us and South Carolina supposedly.
Which is the better job at this time?

I say this because the paper in South Carolina has an article saying 5 things to know about potential hire Matt McMahon. That’s what was said on the radio, I’m not looking it up , I’ll just believe what the guy said

Without knowing what kind of sanctions we are about to get it’s hard to say.

That’s why I asked , I really don’t think it’s even close if we know what is coming . The unknown is always the worst part but hopefully woodward has some idea of what’s coming.

Idk if he’s someone to fight over anyway

But like I said yesterday the sanctions must not be too bad if guys like McMahon are interested. A 1 year postseason ban while he’s implementing his system and recruits (portal if schollies taken away) would be best case scenario

Since everybody is reporting that Scott Woodward is targeting Matt McMahon I think it’s pretty safe to say that it won’t be Matt McMahon.

You may be correct. I realize I have no link here , but the guy on the radio was reading what I wrote above from the computer in real time, so I believe him .

I thought it was important to note that we weren’t the only school with beat writers reporting that McMahon is the guy probably

I would say the only difference is LSU could pay more for a coach if it wanted too.

It would depend on how much the administration cares about basketball. Are they even willing to get into a bidding war for a coach?

This guy is a pretty large drop from the Scott Drew talk.

Big game Scott must have missed his shot.

The fact people haven’t learned from the baseball or football hire yet is amazing.

Whoever the media is talking about LSU is hiring is more than likely not the guy LSU is going to hire.

Like him or hat him one thing you have to give credit to Woodward for is that he does a great job of limiting the leaks from the athletic department.

Scott firing a guy who isn't his guy to hire a guy who isn't as good of a coach as not his guy was makes me depressed

Let's fire Wade but keep Verge. Nostradamus Scotty

According to everyone in this board Woodward could secure Phil Jackson if that was his desire. If you want Murray state's coach, he would probably get him because he's the most amazing athletic director that ever walked earth

Help me out, am I doing this right?

Big Game Hunter Woody was going to hire someone so much better than Will Wade who could only finish in the top 3 of the SEC most years, except for that one year when he won the SEC. Woody is finally going to get LSU basketball the greatest X’s and O’s coach, cleanest recruiter, and the super duper dark cloud removing coach of all time.

If he did, at least he made him say no. Isn't that what you guys are always demanding; go after the big guns until they say no. No reason to be an arse about it.

No dumbass. It has more to do with these “reporters” not knowing anything but all just picking a name and going with it. Woodward hasn’t let names get leaked on any of his hires and the targets the media talk about are always wrong.

Was the media wrong or did he strike out? How can you be so sure that your “legend” Scott has gotten who he first wanted in each hire? I do believe Mulkey was obviously his first choice.
I think he went after Riley, they didn’t just make all of that up. I also don’t believe Jay Johnson was his first choice. But everyone will defend him and say he always gets exactly who he wants and everything else is wrong. All the bullshite about Woody don’t fire someone without a big fish on the line is bullshite too, I’m sorry but the dude has big pockets of other people’s money. It’s easy to make hires when you know you are throwing around a large amount of cash, you always have the security of knowing someone will bite.

I think he definitely looked into hiring Riley but was an offer ever truly made? Who knows. Riley and Kelly have the same agent. If Riley was all in on USC front the start it’s not that far fetched of an idea that both LSU, USC, and Kelly/Riley’s agent made the decision to let the story of Riley to LSU get out while all sides could negotiate with the guy they truly were getting behind the scenes.

It’s very common knowledge that O’Sullivan was the number one choice and that the two sides were very close to a deal. I believe the story is Sully was dragging his feet and LSU decided to move on but who really knows.

I agree with both of your statements. I’m just sick of the urban legend that is Woodward.

How many ADs are there that can pull his top choice as coach 100% of the time, regardless of the sport? That apparently is the expectation at LSU. Not defending Woody but pointing out how unreasonable fans are these days. If you can’t hire your #1 choice, you’re a failure.
