It's similar to the speech problems of George W. Bush. It comes across as being stupid. It has nothing to do with intelligence. Some people who are in public lime lights are overly careful how they express themselves. So, they start a sentence with an idea and then hesitate to check themselves about which word they should say next.

I guarantee you that when Les is talking to his wife and kids his speech is not as awkward.

I didn't believe it either until I heard him speak to the local group in Shreveport. He sounded like a different person to me. From Clueless Les to almost Sabanesque. And I have heard him speak to the media before on rare occasions with such clarity that I wondered whether the rumors of him having to take medication for a physical condition might be true. He can sound very competent in more private settings and sound like a bumbling clown in more public arenas.

His policy decisions and religious nutball beliefs had the most to do with that. He just explained it stupidly so it all added up to one big ball of stupid. And that's why Obama won two virtual landslides elections after that. But I digress.

Les just picks his words very precisely during football season. The words don't always flow well. However his words have very precise meaning.
If you listen to him in off season he is very well spoken. He is no fool. I often wonder if his football season ramblings aren't purposefully done to get opponents to under estimate his intelligence.

And subsequently lost his party's control of both houses of Congress.

You sir, get the idiot of the day award. Check out the Obama gaffs - they are far more numerous and onerous than any that George Bush committed. Can I say navy "corpseman".

My dentist looks just like Taylor Swift. But I only see her for 1 minute after 20 minutes with my old lady hygienist.

If you've ever talked to the man in person you'd realize that's all a pure show. Which in my mind makes him even more of a genius. The man doesn't talk like that period except on camera. He gives two shits about the media period.
