Looks like Jay wants to get Gio in the lineup, at least against RHs. I’m all for it, but it depends on Berry being able to handle 3rd. I was never against Gio playing, just not at the expense of Jobert. He has to be in the lineup. I’m not sold on Berry being able to handle 3rd, but if he can, that makes us a much better team. And Merrifield gives us a much needed RH bat off the bench.

Helmers is one of those pitchers that you can rely on …very consistent.

Berry has played 3rd better than he has RF. Also Gio is arguably a better hitter and has better stats than Jobert in addition to being a superior fielder.

1 thru 8…that’s one of the scariest lineups we’ve had at LSU. If Dugas starts to warm up in the 8th spot..look out.

Idk about that… I don’t remember a ball getting hit to him last game at 3rd.

I like gio in right, Merrifield are 3rd and Berry DH.

Eh, let’s back off of that. Jobert has nearly as many hits (19) as Gio has AB’s (20). If Jobert plays this weekend like he played in Minute Maid, then we can yank him. Gio definitely needs to be in the lineup though

As long as our 9 hole continues to hit below .200, he won’t get any pitches to hit. Unfortunately, SOMEONE has to hit 8th, and I think Dugas has done a better job of it than someone like Thompson would

He’s played multiple games at 3rd this year. It’s also where he played last year when he wasn’t a DH.

I don’t mind that being in the rotation. I would like for him to DH as well

Facing a 6'8 righty tonight. Good (not great) arm that has pitched well in juco, at ULL and at Tulane the last few years. Got roughed up by USM last week.

We need it to happen with the bases juiced.

He also has more than double the amount of at bats so that would make sense. Their stats are very similar.

You can only play two of Merrifield, Jobert and Gio. Jobert will always be a hitter but Merrifield and Gio bring defense and are decent hitters. It's a tough choice.

I would like to see Travinski or McManus get going offensively. It would definitely add to our options.

Low bar, but true. I think Merrifield’s struggles at 3rd make this much easier.

Merrifield hasn’t been great at 3rd.

I trust gio much more than jobert the dude has a few awesome games against Maine and other shite competition and some of y’all act like that exceeds the years of experience as a good player that’s hit 300 for his career in gio
