Chavis loves to play so much nickel

do we play so much nickel because that's what chavis wants or is it because our personnel very heavily favored that look this year?

actually it was because the situation dictated

teams always way behind us, and we normally always stopped the first down run play to little or no yards, prompting an expected pass play

That's why the OLB position was not critical to this team's success this year. Baker did very well at the one OLB spot that was on the field in the nickel. Francois was on the field very little of the time this year.

He was switched to DE almost immediately when he arrived on campus.

Could anyone see somebody from the 8-deep D-Line moving back to LB?

I totally forgot Maclin switched. In that case Jones, Minter, Muncie would be your starters with Barrow, Davis, and Randle also getting reps.

If we land Collins I could see Loston, Minter, Tahj at the LBs with Barrow, Munchie, and Randle getting first looks off the bench.

I saw that DJ Welter got in late in a few games...whats the word on him?

Has a good chance to see significant PT if he can progress in the Spring.

Tahj Jones ahs played the most this year of returning OLB so I would assume he gets a nod at Francois' spot.

As far as replacing Ryan Baker that will be a battle between Barrow, Muncie and Randle IMO.

Barrow looked good against Georgia. One great play...Barrow was moving up for an epic head-on with the running back. Out of nowhere Minter obliterated the guy. I think Barrow had already closed his eyes for the impact and then it just didn't happen. It looked impressive, and on TV you could hear the collective breath intake of the crowd.

Taj Jones has looked good when he has made it in, I know he was really fast at Sulphur High, and he looks to still have speed to cover the OLB

No love for Deion Jones? He and Davis will lead the Freshman LBs and could fight Barrow/Muncie for playing time.

I dont think there is any way that Loston moves down to LB. He is a great piece for depth at the Safety position, but I think Collins comes in an locks the SS spot up.

If Loston were starting material, he would have started the Ark game.

No true freshman LB we have coming in is good enough to start day 1. Debo needs a year in S&C program before he sees time.

With the D we have, I would agree, but thats not to say they wont get pt. I think Debo and Davis will play special teams at least, and if they are going to burn the rs they might get some time on the d.

But Minter, Tahj, and Barrow/Muncie will be the starters I'd be willing to bet.

Somebody said a few weeks ago that Justin Maclin was redshirting this year during his sophomore year and that he would be a linebacker from now on. Is that a false statement?
