He had 4 second half carries, he was tackled once in those 4 carries.

2 TDs, and out of bounds w 5 guys on his back

Fournette could have had almost any rushing yard total or record we wanted, the only people capable of stoping him that game were on LSU's coaching staff. I'm glad they rested him btw

IMO he will get limited carries against Syracuse and the directional schools to try to keep him fresh. I could see him having less than 100 against those schools due to limited carries.

LSU needs him fresh for SEC opponents as opposed to giving him a heavy workload to try to get him the Heisman.

I completely agree, but whenever something like this is posted, it gets downvoted.

Les Miles will not keep LF in a 31-3 game against an over-matched opponent. Whatever yards he gets, he needs to get them by halftime.

Imagine the meltdown if Fournette got injured in the third quarter in a game that was already well in hand.

Miles will most likely play him sufficiently to pile up yards, but not when the game is definitely well in hand. Plus BH needs to get his passing rhythm with receivers. I doubt if he has more than 1200 yards total in these games.
Although I wonder if Miles will play him more than really needed to keep him in Heisman contention.
Thoughts?

I personally think big performances in nationally televised games matter more than total stats. At the same time we still need to have his stats up near the top.
I think he needs 100+ and 2 TDs against the cupcakes to keep all the streaks you'll see on cbs alive. Hopefully that only takes 10-12 carries.
Then we need to ride him in the big games, 150 and 2 at ole miss or bama with one big game defining run, then maybe one more 200+ against an SEC team (USC, UF, arky, or A&M)

He might surpass all this and just take CFB by storm though, the above is just what I think he needs to get it.

Edit: his odds greatly improve with the team winning the SEC, I think he can win it if he keeps making highlight reels regardless though

If the rumors are true, we might not risk him getting banged up against the next 2 opponents

he will almost definitely play enough to get his 100 yards it should only take 10-15 carries. that's not mileage on the body by any stretch of the imagination.

hype is good for the program and so are heisman winners.. he's certainly got the talent. if LSU is successful all season long and goes 10-2 or better he has a legit shot at it.

What are the rumors? Anything besides a minor thigh bruise (dead leg)

If it is enough to slow him down I agree we shouldn't play him. Not playing like himself against Syracuse hurts his chances more than missing the game.
If it's only a minor bruise I don't think it'll slow him down at all though

next five games mean nothing, the Heisman will be won or lost in November

Will that is mostly true, did you notice they kept showing his streak of 100 yd games going back to last year?

In a game of the year scenario against bama or ole miss you don't think if he can have that streak at 10+ games it might drop some jaws?
I agree a huge November is necessary, but all the little things help. The media is drooling over him and will use any random streak/stat they can find. It if only takes him 10-15 carries to keep him sharp, and he isn't injured, give the man 100 yards against the cupcakes. It's only an 11 game regular season, not a 16 (+4) NFL season.

Edit: I have a feeling you will see him in a few select kickoff returns in big games this year also

If he's healthy, he needs 15 touches a game. Not for stats, but like a horse needs to be on the track or a plane needs to be in the air, he needs to keep those legs hot.

Plus, Leonard doesn't get tired.

THis is actually a great prediction, although I would add 25-50 yards for WKU and E. Mich

Only needs to average 114 ypg in the next 4 to get to 700. He could easily surpass 900 if Les let him

Eastern Michigan has the worst rushing defense in college football.

If we want to run him a lot, he could EASILY hit 300 yards. Think about that sentence.

Yes, i'm hopeful he can break 900 yards. 1000 yards is doable if he gets touches against the lesser opponents. If he can get close to 350 yards total against EM and WK... lookout, 950 is within reach.

It doesnt need to be alot. 13-15 carries will get him right at 300 yards. Look at these numbers from EMU:

EMU has given up 556 yards rushing to Army, 430 yards rushing to Wyoming, 278 yards rushing to Ball State, and 229 yards rushing to Old Dominion.
