Cannizarro severely disrespected Papierski walking to get to him and Papierski made him pay for it.

I assume Cannizarro thought he knew Papierski better than Smith and that's why he walked to him, no other reason for that. Papierski has had solid at bats, and didn't merit walking Smith to get to him.

Either way, go fricking tigers!

IIRC, he walked him to load the bases too. Trying to get a force anywhere. Smart baseball move.

Cannizzaro walked Smith to load the bases and try for the DP with a slow hitter. It didn't work. His intentional walk wasn't any disrespect to paperski. It was the right call.

He wanted the double play chance. Would have done it to any batter

Told my buddy "this is a dumb move walking a freshman (granted he's a stud) to get to pap". He must have only been looking at his average

i don't think walking the bases loaded with 1 out is a great move when you already have the DP set up with runners on 1st and 3rd. Puts way too much pressure on your pitcher to throw strikes

Load the bases, we already had hit into 2 inning ending double plays

Now if he would have walked Beau Jordan, that would have been a dumb move.

It was the right baseball play. Outside of walking Duplantis to face Deichmann I don't think it mattered who the on deck batter was the walk was coming.

He walked him to set up the force with bases loaded. That's the reason. That being said Pap is a boss and has been super clutch. I would've faced a freshman but hey it worked out for us

yes, and Papierski is slow, at least compared to our other hitters. ergo, a better chance for a ground ball DP.

Walking a true freshman to load the bases with 1 out and a 3 year starer coming up is incredibly stupid.

Horrible, horrible decision by Cannizaro.

I love how we can analyze a coaches decision in hindsight and call for his head when it doesn't work

If we're talking LSU coach, it was the dumbest call ever and he should be fired
