batting avg. W/ RISP tells the whole story. Bunting wouldn't matter with batters lofting lazy fly balls to outfield

We had Laird and Stevenson on 1st with great opportunities to steal today...against a new catcher for UNC

you can steal with Stevenson. You can't take a chance stealing with Laird.

the real number is success with runners in scoring position

and zero hits by your #3, 5 and 6 hole hitters and only one hit by #7 and #8 hole hitters. that is why we lost. even glenns sorry arse performance today should have been overcome.

So over the course of an entire year coaching hasn't improved lairds stealing ability?

How long will it take for him to be a good enough gamble to send?

Is it a bigger gamble to steal laird or let RR swing with a 2-0 count in the 9th inning?

obviously not since they never ask him to do a straight steal. He's just over 50 percent for the season (6-11).

I don't understand this question? When he improves his base running ability?

I don't have anything to quantify my reasoning and don't know what situation you are referring to, but I wouldn't steal Laird in the 9th. Early on in the game, yeh I could see it. Hit and run wouldn't be a bad idea. UNC's pitcher only struck out one batter, I believe. So players were putting the ball in play.

Is it a bigger gamble to send laird say in the 3rd or 6th inning(risking one out in middle of the game) or letting RR do a hit and run with no outs and a 2-0 count when you need one run to tie?

Hit and run makes more sense than just a straight steal with a guy who gets thrown out nearly half the time.

Laird steals second on Bregs AB..no telling how that inning turns out.
Right...he could have been thrown out.

I don't agree with bunting because the guy that bunted would have gotten a basehit!!!

I like a hit and run with bregman because if any player on the team is comfortable swinging its bregman. He certainly won't be patient and allow a BR to steal

You would think guys like Laird and Stevenson would be running wild whenever they get on base

Isn't that why they are in the damn lineup anyway?

how does a stolen base or sac bunt get one of those 20 runners LOB in to score?

More outs on the basepaths = less runners LOB
