Why dont you ask coach..

quote:

“It’s no question that his decision to return for the 2010 season is a huge boost to our team,” the 2009 National Coach of the Year said. “He’s been our RBI guy with his outstanding hitting over the past two years, but more than that, his temperament in the dugout and his leadership is vital to our program.”

But I guess you do know more than CPM too huh?

So lets see Josh knows more about LSU baseball than both Charles Hanagriff AND the head coach.

I googled and the first article that came up was about Mahtook knowing when to keep his mouth shut during this slide.. (An article about him leading by example)

LINK

quote:

Part of being a good leader in athletics is knowing what to say and when to say it.

An even more subtle leadership skill is knowing when to keep your mouth shut.

That's how Mikie Mahtook is handling LSU's current skid.

Being a leader on the field is fine and Mikie is good at that.. You need that.. But you also need a leader off the field too.

Im not saying he isnt a leader by example.. I have said that all along.

Here is another article saying this year is his first year really playing a leadership role.

quote:

Tigers at the plate but also adopt a leadership role in the clubhouse as one of the team's elder statesmen.

"It's a new role for me, and I'm embracing it," Mahtook said. "During my freshman year I came into a team full of veterans with the aspirations of winning a national championship, and they kind of took all the guys under their wings.

Nope. Never saw this one coming.

Actually after watching fall practice yes. The coaches were much more concerned about our hitting after the fall than the pitching.

I remember after the CSF series Paul M. was in an interview. He said something along the lines of "Oh, we will see this team again in the CWS." I thought that was a little premature and overconfident. Now that statement is coming back at him hard.

So Gibbs and Dean were good leaders in your opinion?

I can't say I would have come to that conclusion. To be honest, after watching the first few series, I thought we might end up being VERY good because the pitching was better than I thought it would be.

But, in hindsight, I think we scored a lot of unearned runs (way more than average) over the first few weeks. And, even in games that we won easily, there were stretches where we would be shut down for 4 or 5 innings.
