Not sure why any legit coach would want to come to LSU right now. JJ has wrecked the place. Talent cupboard is bare, and recruiting picture is bleak. Why would a top recruit ever want to come here? Also, the HS basketball in Louisiana has never been worse. Subpar facilities add to the problem.

We need to hire some X and O genius who knows how to beat people with lesser talent. Not saying we need somebody who runs endless Princeton back door cuts, but we cannot run with the thoroughbreds. It will take a lot of money to attract that right guy who is willing to take it on.

I want names. Give me some names.

Yep. $$$ that boosters would rather spend on football. Gonna be hard to get a big time coach to come here

We just didnt get the top recruits which Johnny dropped the ball on. And we just built a brand new practice facility.

I don't really buy that. I see no reason why LSU couldn't be a perennial tourney participant considering our resources/talent pool. Is La. high school basketball really that awful these days? Seems like there is a good bit of La. talent doing some good things at lots of places not named LSU. I also don't buy relevance in the fact that we aren't a "basketball school" (not saying you're arguing that). With a consistently competitive, exciting team, the fan support will absolutely be there. But you are right, it will take a monetary commitment to a good coach. We can't pay our coach in the bottom 1/4 of the conference if we want to be relevant nationally.

There have to be some young guys with potential that would like to step up to the next level for an average D1 salary.

Yeah, I'm also not sure how our facilities could be considered "sub-par" in any way. In terms of fan experience, sure.

LSU fans only care about LSU basketball when we are losing. Otherwise this place is filled with horrible football offseason threads like who will were jersey number 69.

To be fair, it's been a long time since LSU was consistently good at basketball.

It's bad because of what CJJ did to the program last year.

But honestly the talent is better than you are seeing. I don't see any possible way you can properly evaluate our talent in the environment they are trapped in right now.

There are good coaches out there who would take this job. We just need to work and try and keep a couple of former Tigers noses out of it this time.

Will JA do that? I like many have my worries, but we'll see.

Best outcome, no established coach is coming here.

Outside of the blue bloods, LSU can be just as good as any other program.

Most people bitching about firing JJ (which he deserves) couldn't even tell you who starts without googling it.

Fine. We just got $40 million from SEC in a payout...double what was given a couple of years ago.

Yes, expenses like full expense scholarships, facilities, debt payment have gone up but your overall football coaching money has stayed fairly stable to Miles, Cam, and Chief levels. The buyout for Miles can be paid over time.

There HAS to be an extra million to two in the budget to cover a new coach and assistants.

bullshite.

Just look at the goddamn game thread against aTm for proof.

Sure, the football threads make the basketball threads look small even when the bb team is decent, but the thread on Saturday night was 4 fricking pages and 2 up until half.

The gymnastics teams have longer threads on most nights.

That is just blatantly false what you typed. I love football but I love our basketball team too. It's just fricking sad on so many levels.

LSU has one of the most profitable athletic departments in the country. We can afford it.
