Wow! I wrote this in several threads earlier in the year (before Beckwith emerged). You're dead right. Our MLB's were wading through a sea of offensive linemen and fullbacks.

You think backups get 2000 reps over spring and summer? 
Maybe 20 reps a week.
Beckwith is pushing guys around. Blockers, our DT's (hilarious but it works, double teams. He singlehandedly shuts down the interior running game.
Look at when he went out. It's as plain as day.

Beckwith is now much better than Welter. No question about it. Let me explain the 3rd and 18, though. It was an obvious passing down; our linemen sold out for the pass rush; their offensive line slipped past our dline and made it impossible for our LBs to do anything.
