You have a very sad life if you need a college football coaches' press conference to go exactly the way you want it to for your life to have a "ray of sunshine" in it.

Apart from the 3 and out vs Wisconsin - when has Harris struggled (apart from in practice I assume)

Sounds about right.

it really makes no difference who starts. Both will play, and Auburn will prepare for both. everyone already knows this, so what does it matter which quarterback starts?

Harris is so much better than Jennings, just let him start, play, struggle, whatever...because he will learn from it and get better.

Jennings is starting. If you think otherwise you haven't been watching the last 10 years since Les got here.

Actually, what you have described is a very typical Miles press conference.

Since you asked...In the ULM/SHS games he fumbled and had a few plays where he was just on a different page, went to hand it off and the rest of the offense was going the opposite way. Just seemed like he didn't know the play or made the wrong call.

FWIW I think he's improved and should start.

I don't understand why so many people are ok with both playing and "going with the hot hand." Harris is on such a different stratosphere than Jennings talent wise, he needs to be the starter. Actual legit, starter to the same degree mett was last year. Jennings is not good. It's not being a nega tiger, it's a fact. He has zero arm strength, mediocre accuracy, sucks at running, and can't read a defense or make a progression to save his life.

If Harris gets hurt and we have to turn to Jennings then so be it but the idea of wasting possessions by treating this an even a shadow of a competition still is asinine.

Coach-speak is opaque by design. Les takes it to the next level by mixing in elements that absolutely no one besides Les and (maybe) God can decipher. This presser will be no different than the hundreds of others that he's done.

les could take the distraction away by naming harris the starter but he won't

yeah, what distraction? Oh, your distraction I guess. He doesn't have to tell anyone shite...the players know who the qb is. You guys sometimes.....

There are times when it's beneficial to have a backup run designed packages to change things up and throw the defense off, but I find the idea of blandly saying "we should use both and go with the hot hand" to be a bit of a cop out. It's said to keep as many people as possible happy. If Les really is on the fence, that's up to him as the coach. If one is clearly a better option, I think he should let the team know (privately, though it won't remain so) that "this is the guy", back him up, and give some leash. Neither QB will develop any confidence if he's constantly worried about getting the hook for any little frickup.

I don't think you get what took place on Saturday night. This isn't going to be a dual qb thing going forward. One is the starter, one will carry the clipboard. This won't be a "hot hand" type situation.

He could avoid all of this, and even cast a ray of sunshine on the program, if he would just say the five words that must be said: Brandon Harris will start Saturday.

Why should he show his cards?

Media: Les, who will start at Qb on Saturday?

Les: I have not made that decision yet. We will play the player who gives us the best chance to win.

Media: Les, who will start at middle linebacker?

Les: I presume that both players will play a significant amount in the game on Saturday.

Media: Les, what is the extent of the injury to Dawayne Thomas?

Les: He got nicked.

This is exactly how it will play out. Y'all don't even have to listen.
